GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for the acquisition, retention and expansion of new and existing customer relationships and for the overall success of the assigned Loan Team including staff management. This position develops new business and client relationships, and provides exceptional customer service by taking ownership of the customer experience from introducing the customer to Cathay Bank through profiling the customer, assessing their banking and borrowing needs, and recommending appropriate lending products based on a thorough knowledge of Cathay Bank’s products and services.
May underwrite the loan deals when needed.
DIRECT REPORTS
The incumbent supervises a loan manager and a loan assistant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.
Accomplishing business development through aggressive sales efforts resulting in quality growth of client relationships and accounts.
Ensures loan goals are met.
2.
Preparing, reviewing and presenting credit proposals, including new applications, annual reviews and status reports.
3.
Reviewing loan documents.
4.
Coordinating with attorneys and/or customers to arrange loan closings.
5.
Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and the Bank’s internal policies during underwriting and post-loan monitoring.
6.
Handling administrative and operational matters in relation to the department and the loan portfolio of the department.
7.
Supervising, developing and training team members.
8.
Setting performance goals for team members.
9.
Evaluating team members’ performance.
10.
Act as a strong mentor to the staff and provide them with defined goals and a vision of their career path.
11.
Participating in departmental, management and credit committee meetings.
12.
Attending community meetings and business functions.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Education: College degree in business-related discipline preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of commercial lending experience with at least 2-3 years of management experience.
• Skills/Ability: PC proficient.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Bilingual (English/Mandarin or Cantonese).
Excellent credit knowledge of Bank’s credit underwriting policies and approval process for assigned loan.
Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, high production environment.
Strong business development skills.
Strong financial analysis and accounting skills.
Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and delegate.
Ability to exercise sound judgment.
