This position will be based in the Atlanta or Kansas City markets.
VP Revenue Cycle leads and plans the authorization and billing operations for the revenue cycle process for the Home Health division.
Develops, implements, and enforces policies and procedures to streamline effective billing and collection processes across multiple markets.
This role will manage a department of 300 using metrics.
Essential Functions:( Those functions that the individual who holds the position must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation).
Responsible for the oversight and management of the division’s revenue cycle, including authorizations, billing, and collections.
Directs billing management and staff to ensure that accurate submission of all claims and timely collections occurs in accordance with all third-party contract terms including Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, commercial insurance and direct patient pay.
Assures maximization of cash collections through diligent and timely monitoring of all open accounts receivable balances.
Maintains and enhances billing policies and procedures for each function in the revenue cycle process and ensure staff adherence to policies.
Prepares detailed analyses and reports of billing and accounts receivable activity and results, including performance matrixes, bad debt expense and AR days outstanding.
Manages for continuous improvement in the revenue cycle process
Month-end closing of the billing group information.
Acts as liaison between the billing department and finance department.
Monitors timeliness and effectiveness of department activities, ensuring that outstanding patient accounts and accounts receivable in no more than the agreed upon limit and that bad debt is within budgeted target.
Monitors effectiveness of collection efforts and ensures billings are current and within the established time frame.
Enhances and standardizes work-flow processes throughout the revenue cycle to assist in achieving consistency in maintaining critical success factors.
Delineates, defines, and streamlines the department’s various functional activities and ensures its effectiveness in maximizing the utilization of both asset and people resources.
Manage field operations’ problem escalation and customer service.
Analyzes reimbursement from all sources, including carrier reimbursement exception reporting and follow up pending claims analysis and denials management.
Provides mentoring, coaching and performance reviews for direct reports.
Establishes and maintains all billing and financial data, including medical billing code tables, rate schedules and payer information.
Manages outreach billing operations, including hiring, orientation, training, development, coaching, corrective actions, and ongoing monitoring of all staff work-related activities.
Ensures consistent quality of the billing services by distributing and assigning duties and responsibilities to employees, ensuring skill levels are appropriate to the assigned tasks and monitoring the department’s productivity.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business management or healthcare administration preferred
Licenses/Certification:
CPA preferred
Five years medical reimbursement experience with progressive supervisory management in a healthcare environment
Experience with Homecare-Homebase billing system a plus
Revenue cycle oversight preferred
Knowledge of medical necessity rules and procedures impacting insurance reimbursement
Strong leadership experience with ability to prioritize, plan, and direct a department
Well-versed with all federal, state and HIPAA privacy regulations with thorough knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding protocols and procedures
Proven ability to perform strategic planning and priority setting for a billing department in a fast-paced, growing environment
Proven track record for improving process efficiencies and solving problems
Able to maintain professional behavior when dealing with subordinates
Experience using multiple integrated systems, such as HomeCare HomeBase.
Ability to manage projects concurrently
Possess excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to handle a high volume of work in a metrics-based environment
Ability to work with confidential information
Well organized and confident to work independently, but is a team player
Detail-and-deadline oriented with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
Demonstrates strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Must read, write and speak fluent English.
Must have good and regular attendance.
Approximate percent of time required to travel: 20%
Performs other related duties as assigned.
