Vice President, Business Development

This is a Full-time position in Austin, TX posted November 8, 2021.

GLG is seeking a Vice President of Business Development to oversee 1-2 account management teams, fully manage coordination efforts at a key client account and act as a deputy to the Head of Sales within the Americas Professional Services Firms (PSF) business in Austin, Texas, New York, or Philadelphia.

In this role, you will drive commercial and account management best practices for the key account and within your teams, motivate and closely coach account managers, and seek continuous improvement by ensuring your teams meet or exceed their commercial, development, compliance, and people goals.

You will work at the forefront of innovation by collaborating with business leaders to develop, communicate, and implement leading business performance improvement, technology, and people initiatives.

You will also be responsible for developing and growing relationships with other top-tier professional services firms clients in the Americas.

Our clients are some of the most sophisticated thought leaders in the world including consultancies, agencies, and market research firms.

You will be responsible for deepening relationships with existing professionals while identifying new and potential GLG advocates within current accounts and prospective clients.

To do this, you will regularly present GLG’s platform and engage with top level decision makers to identify opportunities for thoughtful collaboration.

You will leverage GLG’s CRM tools to track and map client accounts and work collaboratively with your internal colleagues to deliver a differentiated solution to our clients

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Accelerate the growth of GLG’s Professional Services Firms business as a key team member and leader
  • Develop and negotiate professional service subscriptions for existing clients and new business prospects across the full line of GLG’s services
  • Directly work with consulting professionals (from Associate up to Partner-level contacts) to increase awareness of GLG, engage them to drive successful investment outcomes, resolve business issues and challenges, deliver GLG solutions to meet their needs and add value to their investment process
  • Work creatively and collaboratively with internal colleagues—sales (including the Head of Sales), marketing, legal, service, research, finance, technology—to deliver solutions to solve complex business issues
  • Build account plans, set account growth objectives, and quarterback client service teams to achieve those objectives
  • Communicate GLG’s mission, vision, and strategy and premium value proposition
  • Represent the core values that underpin GLG’s culture

An ideal candidate will have the following:

  • 6-8 years of account management or sales experience in B2B sales
  • 2-4 years of direct management experience
  • Bachelors degree (required)
  • The ability to build strong and lasting relationships with key decision makers in client firms and possesses a passion for problem-solving and delighting clients
  • Results-oriented focus and track record of business growth/turnaround
  • Proven ability to manage teams and create followership
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, competitive, client service-oriented work environment
  • Experience with leading teams and success in global/cross-functional collaboration in a metrics-driven, entrepreneurial, and challenging environment
  • Ability to work well independently and be self-motivated
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and a passion for persuasion, especially around complicated and intellectually challenging issues
  • A demonstrated ability to read and understand people
  • The highest level of integrity and professionalism
  • A demonstrated ability and initiative to handle increasing responsibility over time
  • Understanding of professional services firms, financial services or corporate clients.
