SUMMARY Responsible for increasing the ratio of value to non-value, and eliminating waste in the overall supply chain from start to finish, for a defined product family; and for ensuring that the value stream meets or exceeds customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Defining the product family by conducting product routing analysis and appropriate groupings.
Ensuring that a current state value stream map is created of the end-to-end value stream(s).
Conducting fact-based analysis of the current state map(s).
Preparing and ideal state map showing what the value stream could look like in the long-term.
Preparing a future state map that uses lean techniques to eliminate waste and improve process value in the short to mid-term.
Create a plan to achieve future state.
Leading the implementation of the plan.
Leading and mobilizing the people inside and outside of the value stream to enable the required changes (including customers and suppliers).
Leading the day-to-day activities within the value stream to ensure that current commitments are achieved while improvements are being made.
Manage the activities of the shop floor, under the direction of the Operations Manager and follow established procedures and approved processes.
Manage all production operations such as machining, processing and assembly.
Plan, schedule, and coordinate departmental activities to fulfill sales orders, meet inventory requirements, and deliver manufactured products in a timely fashion.
Supervise all value stream associates in all assigned shifts.
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned Daily Standard Work which includes: Gemba Walk Arrange support requirements (Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Materials) Deals with all personnel issues Reviews and responds to expedite requests (Y or N) Deals with abnormalities Check performance metrics at all cells in the value stream Follow up on expedite requests Weekly Standard Work which includes: Gemba walk with Operations Leader Verify Team Leader adherence to standard work Formal audit of standard work in one area Review status of visual controls Lead continuous improvement meeting Critical Competencies Thorough knowledge of all manufacturing methods techniques, and related equipment Familiarity with product construction and application Thorough knowledge of production scheduling and shop operations Highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently Strong leadership skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and adapt to changing situations Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, shop floor control, production planning, and inventory control applications Working knowledge of lean, TPS or ABS (Altra Business System) principles Education and Experience Requirements B.S.
Degree in a technical field required.
Combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree Minimum 5 years of progressive manufacturing experience and responsibilities, 3 of which must be in a supervisory capacity Requires broad technical and administrative experience in a manufacturing machine shop environment Ability to set-up, operate, and program CNC lathes and mills preferred Previous experience with high mix/low volume machine shop preferred EEO Statement: The company in which you have expressed employment interest is a subsidiary or affiliate of Altra Industrial Motion Corp.
