The Technology Manager, part of the Common Architecture and Technology (CAT) group, is responsible for managing the portfolio of selected technologies for Rockwell Automation.
Key responsibilities include the evaluation, definition and execution of system level requirements and the delivery of technology toolkits to Rockwell Automation businesses and third-party automation product suppliers.
This position requires an understanding of the Integrated Architecture, the automation market, competitive offerings, and customer requirements in order to provide technology direction and implementation strategies across the Rockwell Automation portfolio.
This role interacts frequently with customers, product management, engineering, other Rockwell Automation businesses and third-party partners.
Essential Functions: The technology manager is responsible for the definition and development of toolkits and other forms of common technologies for device configuration in industrial automation.
These toolkits are used across multiple Rockwell business units to speed development and improve quality.
The role is responsible for capturing market, technical and competitive requirements and then coordinating with engineering for toolkit development and with other business units for adoption.
The technology manager is expected to provide strategic vision and system level direction across multiple business units and development teams.
The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
• As part of a cross functional team, develop system-level technology strategies to improve device configuration across Rockwell Automation’s portfolio.
• Act as a champion for the overall device configuration strategy to other Rockwell Automation businesses.
Must be willing to work across boundaries to understand requirements, educate businesses and promote a common vision.
• Gather market requirements for device configuration across all the overall industrial automation market.
• Collaborate with other Rockwell businesses on the adoption and deployment of device configuration toolkits.
• Maintain alignment with other subject matter experts on device configuration across Rockwell Automation.
• Perform evaluations of internal and external technologies to ensure world-class technology development and utilization via various benchmarking activities.
• Develop creative and innovative ways to address customer problems.
• Attend technical symposiums and exhibits on industrial control systems to expand knowledge on available and competitive technology.
• Represent Rockwell Automation in standards activities as appropriate.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Legal authorization to work in the US is required.
