Tax Manager

This is a Full-time position in Chicago, IL posted April 17, 2021.

Multiple active Chicago-area client engagements are focused on attracting talent for Tax Manager and Director roles.

Some opportunities are fully remote. Industries represented include but are not limited to Financial Services, Manufacturing (including Consumer Goods), Real Estate/Construction, Consulting/Professional Services and Technology.  Areas of expertise required including State/Federal, International, SALT and Indirect Tax.

Desired Technical Skills and Experience

Prepare and review Federal and State Tax returns and quarterly/annual Tax projections including all supporting work papers – ensuring all required deadlines are met.

Prepare responses to information requests from Federal, State and Local taxing authorities.

Interface regularly with Tax and Finance leadership team to present Tax savings strategies, review data and reports/returns.

Research legislative and regulatory Tax developments and effects of those developments and integrate required changes to maximize opportunity in the context of those changes.

Review and analyze Tax depreciation reports and reconciliations.

Analyze and prepare state apportionment reports to ensure compliance with the state laws.

Reconcile Tax data on financial statements and review foreign bank account reporting.

Support domestic and foreign Tax integration of acquisitions within the corporate structure.

Coach and create accountability for direct reports through setting of goals and objectives, regular meetings and performance reviews.

Proactively drive and improve workflow and Tax function process, procedures and operation.

Desired Qualifications

 
Bachelors in Accounting or Tax required.

Masters in Accounting or Tax held in high regard.

CPA preferred or required with most clients.

Experience in Big 4 or Mid-Tier public accounting.

Extreme discretion – ability to hold company details, financials and executive team matters in confidence.

Extraordinary attention to detail and high level of curiosity.

Strong leader with ability to hire, train, coach and retain Tax Department talent.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a virtual (remote) environment when required.

Strong technical skills and experience operating within a variety of commonly used Tax systems.

Advanced to Expert Excel and BI capabilities.
