Responsible for managing the North American Control function for Securities Lending Operations, including direct management of local staff and oversight of offshored team.
Maintain established operational control processes in accordance with the highest standards and best practices.
Must be able to identify excessive operational risk and/or control problems at an early stage and work with operational teams to avoid control and quality deficiencies and associated monetary losses.
Manage team members performance, including creating expectations and conducting reviews.
Manage day-to-day control operations (e.g., static data maintenance on GSL (global securities lending system), program earnings, management information/reporting & reconciliations), monitor work flow distribution and ensure resources are effectively used both within and across teams.
Instill a strong `risk and control culture amongst the teams such that operational risk is inherently minimized and any potential risk situations are promptly identified and escalated.
Ensure potential loss situations are appropriately managed.
Liaise with risk and control teams throughout the organization to identify and implement best practices.
Oversee/Participate in system enhancement projects and oversee process improvement initiatives through to implementation.
As subject area expert, provide comprehensive, in-depth consulting and leadership to team and partners at a high technical level.
Carry out/oversees activities that are large in scope, cross-functional and technically difficult.
Develop, implement, and administer strategic programs within functional area.
Conduct performance management and career development processes, provide input for staffing and disciplinary actions and provide hands-on training to staff.
Develop periodic goals, organize the work, set short-term priorities, monitor all activities, and ensure timely and accurate completion of the work.

The successful candidate will benefit from having: College or University degree and relevant proven managerial work experience is required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Analytical and problem solving skills, applies sound judgment when addressing ambiguous issues.
Prior Controls and/or Securities Lending experience is desirable from borrower, custodian or lending agent perspective.
Strong leadership, organizational and people management skills are required to develop periodic goals and to manage and motivate team members towards the goals set.
