Sr. Manager, Modeling & Simulation Services

ROLE SUMMARY The Modeling & Simulations Services Manager role in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Small Molecules (PSSM) group will be responsible for providing and orchestrating a common set of services, processes and tools needed to publish, manage, and validate modeling and simulation platforms across all PSSM lines. This role will work closely with line based Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) as well as stakeholders in other groups in Medicinal Sciences and Digital. This role will support the Digital Design strategy area, a key component of PSSM’s overall Digital Xceleration (DX) strategy. This role will partner with and assist line based subject matter experts (SMEs) to efficiently deploy (source, optimize and install) modeling tools and effectively used in business workflows as part of portfolio work. This role will provide the following benefits to PSSM: Resource flexibility – Develop multiple mechanisms to access key programming skillsets and capabilities from internal and external sources Model librarian – Provide end to end lifecycle management from creation through retirement for all modeling tools Accessibility and ease of use – Increase model usage through easier consumption of models through user friendly interfaces (web and mobile apps) Contracts management – Centrally manage software licenses and contracts for modeling tools and assist SMEs with purchases/renewals processes ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Work closely with the PSSM Digital Design Strategy Lead and Digital Design strategy area team on prioritized investments in modeling tools and platforms Complete lifecycle management for all modeling tools including sourcing, development, support, usage and retirement of models Work closely with members of the Data Core strategy area team on data connectors needed to support the development and consumption of modeling tools Provide detailed reports to stakeholders and leadership on model inventory and usage Partner with other PSSM digital strategy area teams (Data Core, Digital Manufacture etc.) to align on cross-strategy area prioritized investments Assist line-based SMEs to deploy and manage modeling tools by partnering with appropriate teams in Pfizer Digital Collaborate with SMEs to define validation strategies for models to enable increased usage of models and model submissions as part of regulatory documentation Define and align model dictionaries with industry standards Establish and manage usage dashboards for key models Collaborate with line SMEs to improve model accessibility via simple to use interfaces (apps etc.) Partner with modeling communities in other MedSci lines to share best practices on development, deployment, and usage of models Manage a diverse network for resource pools through internal and external collaborations Central management of all contracts and agreements to provide a holistic view of total cost of ownership Work with line SMEs to implement appropriate hardware and infrastructure platforms to support computational modeling Partner with Pfizer Digital to establish a modern infrastructure footprint (e.g. Cloud vs High Performance Computing) for computational modeling and simulations Candidate must demonstrate a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of experience in the Pharma or related industry with extensive knowledge and skill in scientific and/or computational systems deployment and infrastructure management Proven track record of working with emerging infrastructure and computing platforms Proven ability working in matrixed environment with diverse groups including computational subject matter experts, project scientists and senior management Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate, collaborate and influence at all levels within the organization and across the external ecosystem Strong strategic and communication skills (written and verbal) Ability to synthesize concepts across the digital transformation community and effectively communicate them to all appropriate stakeholders at various levels within the origination and beyond (external funding bodies etc.) Self-starter and self-directed with the skills to take a concept, refine into fully developed idea and build out into detailed plan for execution PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Familiarity with pharmaceutical research, development and manufacturing processes Masters in a related area and at least 6 years of experience is desirable Experience with hardware and software platforms (Cloud, High Performance Computing etc.) Other Job Details: Last Date to Apply for Job: February 7, 2022 Eligible for Employee Referral: Yes LI-PFE Pfizer requires all U.S. new hires to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to the first date of employment.
