The Sr. Manager provides the leadership, and direction of all phases of the company’s strategic technical IT planning, implementation of business-specific applications, technology project governance and execution.Principal Accountabilities (Functional)* Responsible for managing a team of 4+ within the IT organization, and its technology initiatives across multiple businesses to meet agreed upon financial targets (e.g. budgets, returns on investments, etc.).* Responsible for modernization and enhancement of an existing SAP system.* Working with the business, provides leadership for the design and implementation of all applications that both increase speed of service to customers as well as improve cost efficiencies. These systems control the movement and utilization of data to produce, sell, and service physical products globally.* Drives strategy and implementation of applications in the front-end organization (sales, product management, and new product/program development) as well as back-end applications that are business-specific.* Builds a world class Technology organization that supports as well as contributes to the business’ strategies; manage IT global resources in the US, Asia and Europe.* Maintains and operates existing systems to ensure that they provide world class service levels and meet the businesses’ information needs.* Oversees the management of all outsourcing relationships.* Supports corporate business and information technology initiatives.Principal Accountabilities (General Supervisory)* Carries out responsibilities in accordance with internal policies and applicable State and Federal laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work and appraising performance.* Interprets company policies to employees and enforces all safety regulations.* Assures efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods, and elimination of wasteful practices within the department; including budget development and control.* Implements cross-training activities and plans for employees under his/her direction with specific attention toward the development of a highly flexible work force.* Establishes and implements team/individual objectives, including the measurement and documentation of the progress of each employee toward the established goals.* Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work-related problems.* Performs other job-related duties as required.Minimum Requirements* Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science or a related discipline – or equivalent business experience – is expected. An advanced degree is an advantage.* 10+ years of progressive IT experience in Infrastructure, Operating Systems and Applications.Responsibility for Quality Procedures or Direct Product Quality* Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem solving tools to continuously improve work processes.Physical Demands* Requires the ability to use a computer on a frequent basis.* Must be able to communicate clearly with fellow workers.Universal Instruments is an EOE/M/F/Vet/Disabled employer.
