Job Description and Responsibilities
The Senior Director, Product Marketing will lead a team of approximately thirty product marketing, technical marketing, and market intelligence professionals responsible for driving sales results through coordinated product marketing and technical marketing activities including ownership of product messaging and positioning, product launches, market evangelism, thought leadership, analyst relations, competitive intelligence and the enablement strategy and materials for sales, sales engineers and partners.
This person and will work closely with the central marketing team to drive demand generation activities and with the sales team to optimize revenue.
The role requires an individual who is action oriented, with strong leadership, communication, partnering and analytical skills who can lead and grow a high performing team; create and articulate a shared vision for VMware’s security direction; and drive our overall go-to-market strategy.
The ideal candidate possesses a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture, see-around-the-bend vision; and the drive, influencing skills and ability to collaborate with a large number of constituencies to transform that vision into a reality, and should have deep experience in cyber security.
More specifically, the role requires an individual with proven experience to:
Business Leadership
Track business performance, identify levers for improving, and champion necessary initiatives to attain key results and objectives.
Analyze the sales cycle and channel mix and formulate ideas and approaches to optimize the selling process including creating and iterating on sales plays.
Champion strategic initiatives organically and with our partner ecosystem to capture new market opportunities.
Product and Thought Leadership
Lead the creation of the whole spectrum of sales tools and collateral (PowerPoint presentations, datasheets, white papers, customer case studies, demos, webinars and training materials) to communicate the value proposition of VMware’s products and solutions to customers and partners
Work closely with corporate marketing to determine and execute lead generation, analyst relations, and public relations programs.

Set the agenda for the public debate in a way that showcases VMware’s advantage
