Georgia Pacific’s Consumer Products Group is searching for a Sr Director Engineering for our technical center in Neenah, WI. You will be responsible for leading, empowering and motivating a department of around 50 employees engaged in the design, development and commercialization of devices supporting GP PRO businesses in markets including food service, healthcare, and office buildings. Leading GP PRO brands include Dixie® Ultra SmartStock®, enMotion®, Pacific Blue®, and Compact®.
As a member of the R&D Leadership Team, you will have additional responsibilities related to key organizational advancement areas including Market Based Management (MBM®), talent development, and long-term R&D strategy. You will report to the VP Research & Development.
What You Will Do In The Role:
Work with business and R&D category leadership to understand unmet customer needs and commercial priorities for innovation; align resources with the priorities.
Lead the execution of a portfolio of commercialization projects, launching products on time, efficiently, and with improved initial quality; establish queue of new projects and resource availability.
Improve the innovation cycle time and provide the business options to buy down time and risk; develop and enhance capabilities to build sophisticated prototypes that are capable of being tested sooner.
Advance project management capability within the department.
Maintain and execute the supply chain / sourcing strategy that ensures profitable cost, quality, and delivery of devices; build relationships at upper and lower levels with all key suppliers.
Drive opportunities to decrease the manufactured cost of commercial devices through value engineering.
Develop and improve device quality systems.
Lead strategies to assess the competitive market, IP space, and technology trends.
Build the capability and capacity of the team to meet the needs of the business; develop future subject matter experts and leadership talent.
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Experience with Electro-Mechanical Devices
Minimum 15 years of Engineering Experience
Minimum 5 years of leading New Product Development and Commercialization
Minimum 5 years of People Management
