Site Safety Supervisor

Ascent Safety is seeking a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to support its U.S.

Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) contracts in the Greater Chicago, Illinois and Northwest Indiana areas.

The SSHO will be responsible for overall management of health and safety as part of these construction-related projects.

The primary SSHO responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

Implementation and development of activity hazard analyses (AHA) in accordance with USACE Engineer Manual (EM) 385

Knowledge of U.S.

Department of Labor, Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and those detailed in the contract specifications

Monitoring site operations for compliance with the project Accident Prevention Plan (APP), Site-Specific Safety & Health Plans, other project plans related to safety, as well as Federal, state and local regulations and guidelines

Conducting initial and daily tailgate safety meetings with IES and subcontractor personnel

Preparing and maintaining daily health and safety reports

Conducting or coordinating air sampling, as required

Performing supplemental safety training, as required

Recommending changes to site personal protective equipment (PPE) and monitoring

Coordinating and interfacing with the IES Program Manager, Site Superintendent, Contractor Quality Control Manager, USACE representatives, subcontractors, and other project personnel

The SSHO must also have a thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and standard industrial safe work practices.

Candidates must also be comfortable working in outdoor environments with an understanding that work schedules may include Saturdays

– $50.00 per hour

License/Certification:
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER w/ 8-hour refresher (Preferred)
OSHA 8-hour Supervisory Training (Preferred)
OSHA 30 (Preferred)
Current First Aid/CPR (Preferred)
