Senior Program Manager

Lightning eMotors

This is a Full-time position in Loveland, CO posted December 13, 2021.

The Lightning team works with forward-thinking fleets to engineer, deliver, and manage full transportation electrification solutions, including vehicles, charging, data analysis, and energy infrastructure.

Lightning eMotors designs and manufactures zero-emission all-electric medium
– and heavy-duty vehicles, including delivery trucks, shuttle buses, passenger vans, chassis-cab models, and city transit buses.

The Lightning products include best-of-class commercial EVs based on leading legacy platforms like the Ford Transit 350HD passenger and cargo vans, Ford E-450 shuttle bus and cutaway models, Ford F-59 step/food van, Ford F-550 cargo trucks and buses, Chevrolet 6500XD Low Cab Forward model, and 30-foot, 35-foot, and 40-foot transit buses.

This position is responsible for the successful leadership of multiple complex and cross-functional programs.

Working with cross-functional teams and independently, the Sr.

Program Manager (SPM) will define and manage the scope of customer outputs to each function within Lightning eMotors.

Efforts will span across the full program lifecycle including Concept Development, Bid and Proposal, Research and Development, Scale Production, Upgrades, and In-service Support.

The SPM is expected to lead multi-disciplinary teams and actively engage with leadership, program stakeholders, and customers to ensure program success.

We are seeking two (2) well-qualified Sr.

Program Managers.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, direction, and guidance for all program activities including planning, organizing, and managing matrixed resources to achieve and exceed program objectives within scope, time, quality, and budget constraints.
  • Provides leadership, direction, and guidance to cross-functional team members and junior program managers.
  • Drives others to execute work by building positive relationships to ensure a high level of integration and cross functional collaboration among Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance and Purchasing and Customer Service.
  • Leads various Cross-Functional Program review meetings both internally and externally.
  • Creates and maintains detailed and actionable open issues lists and Master Program Timelines.
  • Serves as the central control point for progress of Open Issues, roadblock resolution, risk mitigation and escalation.
  • Develops and implements process improvements in line with an Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) mindset.

    Leads the Cross Functional team in following the Gate Process.

  • May lead new business pursuits by creating business cases, pursuit strategy and risk analysis in conjunction with the Sales Team
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Project Management : Ability to lead and direct cross-functional teams, make timely decisions, and develop strategies.
  • Organized : Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines with tight timelines, track deliverables, and be focused on work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Communication : Demonstrated ability to interact respectfully with all colleagues and customers.

    Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills are essential along with the ability to listen intently to others.

    Comfortable presenting formal communications with senior leaders.

  • Analytical : Capable of identifying solutions to unusual and complex problems; utilize creative problem-solving; and analyze available data.
  • Leadership : Passion for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external customers.

    You should be collaborative; and excel at bringing people together as well as driving teamwork.

What we require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
  • 7+ years of Program Management leadership experience in automotive manufacturing or similar industry
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary/technical teams using systems engineering processes
  • Demonstrated knowledge of planning processes, including critical path analysis and risk mitigation
  • Experience with ERP system, NetSuite is preferred
  • Intermediate to Expert experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

What we prefer:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • 10+ years of Program Management leadership experience in automotive manufacturing, transportation, defense, electric vehicle, or similar industries
  • Financial Analysis experience (e.g.

    ROI, business case, etc.)

  • Working knowledge/experience of design and development of automotive embedded systems as well as integration into vehicle design
  • End-to-end experience developing, manufacturing, fielding, supporting, and modernizing vehicle systems
  • Demonstrated experience driving complex products from development to production
