The Programs Group, within the Major Projects Organization (MPO), manages a $500M portfolio of capital investments in SCE’s SCompanytation and Transmission systems, which is 50% of the overall MPO capital work.
Programs is organized and primarily aligned geographically by SCompanytation Regions and also includes project management teams supporting Transmission Line Rating Remediation (TLRR), Corporate Security and Transmission Infrastructure Replacement programs.
The job… The Senior Manager, Project Management, Programs is responsible for the Project Management of all programmatic work managed by the MPO Programs group.
The Programs leadership and staff ensure that budgets, targets, departmental and corporate goals are met relative to SCE’s capital investment.
Day to day… Directly supervise project managers and matrixed senior specialists responsible for project management of SCompanytation, Transmission and Corp Security projects from inception through closeout.
Includes scoping, estimating, project budgeting and approval, oversight of project execution, performance monitoring, and project close-out.
Provide functional direction to project controls team responsible for cost and schedule support.
Ensure appropriate resources are in place to successfully manage the MPO Programs work and to meet departmental and corporate goals and objectives.
Provide strategy, direction, coaching and mentoring, performance management, and salary administration for staff.
Participate in the development and execution of strategies and operational plans consistent with the direction from TS&O leadership.
Ensure cross-functional execution of those strategies through effective project management and oversight.
Successfully influence project sponsors, design, and construction organizations to initiate and execute work, meeting annual financial budget and unit targets.
Regularly assess project and program performance.
Manage capital spend of approximately $500 million annually to within approved targets and spend strategy.
Successfully manage and meet all operational targets for work completed in support of TS&O’s operational strategy.
Resolve cross functional issues as needed and remove obstacles encountered by project managers in managing Programs’ projects.
Qualifications Qualifications you need Five or more years managing/supervising an organization/unit or five or more years of project management experience establishing and maintaining budgets, cost, schedule, scope and quality for complex, high profile, multi-disciplinary projects.
Other details that will set you up for success … BA/BS in Business or technical discipline such as Engineering or Construction Management.
Project Management Certification Master’s degree in business, engineering, construction management or equivalent preferred and Project Management Certification preferred.
Typically possesses experience with construction or engineering within a utility industry.
seven or more years of managerial/supervisory experience and ten years of project management, Construction, engineering or related experience.
Experience providing strategy, direction, coaching and mentoring, performance management, and salary administration for staff.
Experience developing and executing strategies and operational plans.
Experience ensuring cross functional support and collaboration including resolving cross functional issues and obstacles.
Experience ensuring appropriate resources are in place to successfully manage work and to meet goals and objectives.
