Senior Manager Product Quality

About the Team

Our Product Development group focuses on delivering customer-centric innovations that are available only at PetSmart.

This allows us to create products and solutions that our pet parents are asking for that they can’t find anywhere else.

This team partners with Merchandising, Brand Management, Product Design & Integrity, and Global Sourcing to bring the product from vision to reality.

About the Job

We are the Quality and Compliance Team.

We manage the global quality standards, processes and metrics that ensure a positive pet parent experience with the performance of our product.

We work cross-functionally across the entire product development team to ensure our products meet our quality and compliance standards.

We educate and elevate our supply chain.

Strategy :

• Sets annual focus areas for Consumables quality based on recent product performance trends.
• Assess Consumables supplier performance and implements improvements as a part of the continuous improvement process.
• Provides Consumables quality point of view for quarterly business reviews.
• Research, track and analyze product trends to ensure consistency in specs for Consumable product categories.
• Develop associates to become emerging talents

Day to Day: 

• Manages team of product quality scientists and lab analyst in support of Consumables; provides guidance and solutions
• Assesses 3rd party supplier capability for Food Safety practices & cGMPs as a part of supplier bid process.
• Manages the CAP resolution for factory quality process audits
• Manages the third-party service provider relationship for testing.
• Manages Consumables budget (travel, 3 rd party expenses, testing)
• Partners cross functionally with sourcing, product development and merchants to deliver the right product on time
• Analyzes trends in supplier performance and provide corrective action and scorecards
• Assists Customer Service and Legal in the investigation and management of liability claims
• Verifies product specifications accuracy before specifications are finalized.

Qualifications

• A proven leader with self-confidence and a solid track record of accomplishment in a fast-paced, agile environment
• 8 – 10 years of experience in Manufacturing and Quality Assurance in food industry
• B.S.

  in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or related Fields

• Strong understanding of GMP, FSMA, Microbiology and HACCP
• Minimum of 5 years people management experience
• Self-motivated, passionate, empathetic, approachable
• Excel in communication, project management, and data analysis
• Cross-functional team leader empowered to influence
• Ability to multitask and prioritize with a sense of urgency
