Purpose & Scope:
- The Sr Manager, Informatics and Data Operations role, is responsible for recommending, designing and implementing cloud-based solutions supporting analytics for Astellas current and future digital healthcare information and Advanced Informatics & Analytics (AIA) scope. This role helps with implementing and enabling the information management strategy to enable Astellas’ aspirations towards world-class real-world data analytics supporting the varied needs across all major geographies and functions.
- Success in the role requires knowledge of the latest cloud-based technologies, analytics, data modeling, security and privacy policies and business applications in real-world informatics (data, privacy, and evidence). The role is meant to serve as a SME in the best approaches for data engineering, data modeling and operations to support analytics and AIA.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Identify areas for improvement with current processes and data architecture and propose future state to support analytics use cases, standard methodologies, and regulations.
- Improving the delivery of large complex projects by implementing standard processes, tools, and templates that will be used consistently across the AIA
- Implement scripts to support automation of data processing and integration.
- Monitor and act on the alerts generated by the services implemented in the current environment.
- Implement, document and maintain security controls and help monitor alignment to SOPs
- Participate in design and architecture review meetings
- Implement security, monitoring, controls and safeguards in collaboration with IS and global AIA processes and guidelines
- Participate in several concurrent projects in information management for the real-world informatics and analytics function in a fast-paced environment
- Ensure the Analytics environment and data operations is running at an optimal state and quickly resolve any technical issues
- Collaborate with Lead to identify required technology architecture needs to design and implement a solution delivering near-term impact and with long term strategies
- Implement security requirements, metadata standards, data quality and testing procedures for the data lake/warehouse consistent with analytics and AIA standard methodologies
- Partner with Data engineering and operations lead in implementing improvements, enhancements or corrections in AIA
- Train end users on appropriate systems, governance and information management
- Resolve issues by working closely with appropriate resources
- Continually learn new tools and techniques to support AIA and storing and accessing information consistent with the AIA mission
Organizational Context:
This role reports into the Associate Director, Informatics & Data Operations and will collaborate with internal partners to provide solutions on the analytics cloud platform and will develop a close partnership within the IS organization. This position will interact with and lead various external contractors and managed services partners
Qualifications: Required
- 5+ years of technical experience in Pharma experience or related regulated industry
- 1+ years of prior experience with AWS services related to data management, analytics, compute, storage, deployment and management, administration, automation technologies.
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics or related field
- Experience in deploying and supporting data management and analytic solutions in the cloud
- Experience Supporting Data integration and Data modeling aspects for analytics
- Experience implementing defined regulations and security controls to data operations and solutions
- Experience contributing to architecture and design of enterprise systems
- Expertise in implementing and integrating data services from vendors and internal systems
- Experience in data operations
- Hands-on experience in DevOps automation and tools (Python Scripts, Chef, Puppet or Shell Scripts)
- Thorough understanding of data engineering and operations fundamentals and impact on analytic solutions.
- Knowledge on Software Development Lifecycle Methodology (SDLC)
- Experience in the development of business process scripts and/or hands-on experience with the configuration of business applications
- Candidates must understand commercial/business flow in the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience managing enterprise applications
- Possess good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees including senior management
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to details, and the ability to multi-task
- Experience training end-users
- Experience leading external vendors and holding them accountable to timelines, SLAs, and expected outcomes
- Excellent organizational, planning and project management skills and ability to effectively lead enterprise projects
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic fast- paced environment, with minimal supervision
Qualifications: Preferred
- AWS Certification or equivalent
- Cross-cultural project management and communication experience
- Working Knowledge of the various AWS services like Redshift, EMR, Glue, RDS etc.
- Familiarity of Real-World Data and regulations
- Experience in AWS analytics services
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, SAS or similar
