Senior HR Director

WestRock

This is a Full-time position in Atlanta, GA posted November 21, 2021.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources for Consumer Packaging, the Director, Human Resources, Consumer Americas will partner with the leadership of the Consumer Americas Operations Team, a $3.0 billion business with ~over 45 plants and 7,000 team members.

As a member of the leadership team, the successful candidate will be a business and thought partner to the EVPs and leadership on the continued evolution of the strategy and execution plans for the group, and he/she will ultimately create the organization and talent strategy and action plans to support the business strategy.

This position leads and is accountable for the development of a team of HR professionals responsible to build strong partnerships with the leaders and employees and to broker the support of the full HR function to ensure that the business and associated organizational/talent management objectives are achieved.

How you will impact WestRock 

• Work with business leadership, contributing to the development of business strategy and operational plans, proactively driving and delivering on the organization, capability and talent agenda.

• Regularly review organization design and effectiveness and implement necessary actions to continually upgrade and align to the business strategy and immediate priorities.

• Lead key initiatives and provide solutions for employee relations, organization development, performance management, workforce planning and talent acquisition, employee and team development and succession planning.

• Partner with Program Managers to identify needs and support and drive current and future integration efforts across the organization.

• Drive an aggressive talent management agenda for the business ensuring the best fit of talent and capabilities is currently available and building as needed for future requirements.

• Connect the operations and sales teams, driving aligned communications, understanding of common strategy and objectives and clear focus on sales and operational plans.

• Design and lead initiatives which serve to advance the agenda of the business and ensure there is strong programming in place to attract, develop and retain the talent and capabilities needed to meet business objectives.

• Partner and engage with Talent Acquisition, Learning & Organizational Development, Compensation & Benefits and HR Services teams to provide human resources support and solutions.

• Work closely with leaders and other members of the HR team to assess the pipeline of internal talent and work with Talent Acquisition to create strategies that will attract outside talent, as required.

• Work with Learning & Organizational Development to identify training needs and solutions for the function as well as individual leadership coaching needs.

• Lead total rewards strategy and actions for the business, driving the effective use of performance management and partnering with the compensation team to ensure tight alignment and ongoing assessment of commercial, salaried and hourly compensation programs to ensure delivery of required business results and behaviors.

• Support effective employee relations within the business by advising on the appropriate deployment of HR and compliance policies and developing a culture of positive employee engagement.

• Partner with EMEA and APAC Human Resources leaders to ensure alignment and best practice sharing.

What you need to succeed

• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related discipline.

Masters preferred.

• Ten+ years of experience in a fast-paced HR business partner or business role, preferably supporting operations, sales and marketing, and technical client groups in a global environment.

Prior experience within a high performing manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated global experience in employee relations, organizational development & planning, talent management consulting and compensation/rewards.

Demonstrated ability to apply functional knowledge to drive solutions to business challenges.

• Experience with business integration, identifying and prioritizing actions and agendas to maximize progress, align cultures and drive positive employee relations.

• Think and operate like a business leader operating in the HR space with proven business and financial acumen; able to work with credibility and influence business and functional leaders.

• A hands-on, self-motivated and goal-oriented individual who is an agent for positive change and innovation, inspiring employees to the highest standards of performance through frequent communication, good management practices, performance measurement systems, and leadership.

• Proven ability to take initiative to anticipate customer needs and recommend actions to address challenges.

• Strong communications and ability to work in a matrixed environment; ability to build and maintain strong partnerships across multiple areas and geographies

• Significant business-oriented organization design and effectiveness experience

• Balance of experience in growth and productivity aspects of HR

• Strong coaching and influencing skills

• Proven project management capabilities

• Able to broker business and HR resources to deliver agenda
