Senior Engineering Product Manager, Data Products

About the role

As Chime continues to grow, Data Science, AI and Machine Learning are going to be some of the core technologies supporting that growth.

One of the most critical aspects of any ML driven company is to have high quality data for its models and policies and this role will focus on enabling that for all of Chime. 

We are looking for a seasoned product manager to build out Chime’s Machine Learning Feature Store, Ground Truth Label Store and other Data Products as key components for not just Chime’s ML platform but for all of Chime.

You’ll partner closely with many cross-functional teams to tackle Chime’s most challenging Data problems in the areas of fraud detection and mitigation, credit risk assessment, and automating delightful member experiences, just to name a few.

The right candidate is comfortable with the basics of data technologies (Databases, Big Data, Kafka, Spark etc) as well as different aspects of the data lifecycle (Source/Ingestion, Processing, Storage, Serving/APIs, Discovery, Catalog, Governance, Security etc).

The candidate will work closely with ML engineers, Data Platform and Infrastructure teams to build data products that will be used for Chime’s business rules, policies and ML models. 

For Colorado based roles : In accordance with applicable law, this role has an annual starting salary of $149,000 plus bonus, a competitive equity package, and benefits (see below).

The actual pay may be higher depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to

  • Own and drive the product vision, roadmap and delivery of Chime’s Feature Store, Prediction Store and Ground Truth label store as part of the overall Machine Learning Platform
  • Collaborate cross functionally with Data Science, Data Engineering and Data Infrastructure teams to build Self Serve feature discovery and building capabilities to accelerate time to market of ML Models
  • Own and drive delivery of cross-functional data products that impact  all of Chime’s member and product touch points
  • Gather user requirements and business problems and Translate  them into data product requirements  working with ML Platform/Feature Store engineering team 
  • Ensure timely execution of all projects to meet launch dates, and help support testing, and post-launch analysis
  • Communicate strategic milestones and due dates to all stakeholders, ensuring information is available and complete, including to executive stakeholders
  • Build data visualizations to broadly communicate progress on program and key business metrics
  • Evangelize the use of data and machine learning to all parts of the organization and act as a resource to answer stakeholder questions about ML

To thrive in this role, you have

  • 2-3 years experience delivering solutions on ML platform infrastructure and/or owning ML or Data products 
  • 4+ years as a product manager
  • Good knowledge of data technologies (Databases, Datawarehouse, Event Streaming, Batch Processing etc)  and end to end understanding of data products (Ingestion to processing to Serving) 
  • Knowledge of the flow of a data science project, including conceptualization, validation, architecting a cross functional team, and executing on deliverables, among other areas
  • Good working knowledge of SQL 
  • Ability to track large enterprise-wide programs consisting of many projects; proficiency with process management and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Understanding of how data and machine learning solutions can be applied to business/product use cases and the feasibility of such solutions to meet business goals.
  • Ability to communicate to both engineering stakeholders and executives
