Would you like to join us in this mission?We are seeking a highly motivated leader to join us as a Senior Director of Portfolio Strategy and Analytics (PS&A).
This Senior Director will report to the Executive Director of PS&A and be based in our Santa Monica, CA global headquarters.PS&A develops strategic and analytical insights to inform investment decisions and portfolio prioritization spanning from discovery through pipeline assets, in-line marketed brands and lifecycle management, and external innovation.The Senior Director of PS&A will be a change agent for building team capabilities, shaping the development of business processes, interfacing with senior leaders including members of the leadership team to embed robust strategic planning, effective governance, and high quality investment decisions aligned with the Kite enterprise strategy and goals.
The Senior Director, internally known as the Sr.
Director of Corporate Development, will also be an influential leader in driving stakeholder alignment and adoption of new ways of working including the Kite Cell Therapy Operating Model.
To achieve this, the Senior Director will be a key partner to cross-functional team leaders including Global Program Leads (GPLs) and Product Team Leads (PTLs).
In addition, the Incumbent will collaborate with Finance, Commercial Analytics, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, and other functions as needed.Responsibilities of the Senior Director of Portfolio Strategy and Analytics include:Leads and works with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to drive Portfolio Strategy, Cell Therapy Operating Model, and Portfolio Review deliverables outlined belowActs as the PS&A representative to interface with program strategy and/or cross functional product teams to frame and assess development options, risks, investment and revenue estimates, and define key decision/inflection points in the context of competitive environmentBuilds team capability and mentors and trains junior staff within PS&A team in growth areas of strategic thinking, distillation of disease and pipeline content knowledge/ competitive intelligence, critical evaluation of asset development strategies and evolution of future standards of care, to inform portfolio narrative and portfolio review considerationsUtilizes strong understanding of market environment to interface and collaborate closely with commercial stakeholders, refine and challenge TPP and forecast assumptions, and interface with finance business partnersDrives operational excellence in quality of deliverables including oversight of analytic outputs, dashboards, and governance board operations.
Develop business process to enable financial models including PTRS and NPV and drive evolution to “single source of truth” through oversight of high quality dashboardsDevelops and support recommendations for portfolio options that consider opportunities and trade-offs to create an integrated portfolio that aligns with strategic objectives and supports business goalsBuilds and maintain working partnership with Gilead to share best practices and where appropriate align approachesKey Deliverables of the Senior Director of Portfolio Strategy and Analytics include:Kite Portfolio Strategy -Defines and analyzes global portfolio strategic and operational KPIsRuns periodic analysis on current portfolio in coordination with GPLs to identify key business needs and new opportunities during life cycle management of each brandProvides rapid impact assessments of key market and/or portfolio eventsChallenges and selectively validates strategic and financial rationale of individual projectsCell Therapy Operating Model (CTOM) Business Process -Develops and implements CTOM enablers (e.g.
tools, frameworks/templates) to support execution of CTOMLeads change management and communication efforts related to CTOM, including intake of periodic feedbackKite Portfolio Review -Develops and implements integrated annual (and adhoc) portfolio review process across research, development & partnered portfolio via close collaboration with GPLs, R&D, commercial, and finance stakeholdersInstitutionalizes pipeline reviews and establish sustainable evaluation and prioritization methodologiesBasic Qualifications:PhD degree with 12 years of Strategy and/or Business and/or Clinical Development and/or Commercial ExperienceORMA / MS degree with 12 years of Strategy and/or Business and/or Clinical Development and/or Commercial ExperienceORBS / BA degree with 14 years of Strategy and/or Business and/or Clinical Development and/or Commercial ExperiencePreferred Qualifications:PhD, PharmD, MBA or equivalent education or training would be desirableWorking knowledge of the pharmaceutical/biotech landscape, R&D trends, decision analysis, business strategy and markets in major disease areasExperience influencing senior leaders and teams through communication and facilitation skillsProven track record in strategic roles operating within a pharma / biotech company or management consulting firmSkilled at leadership without authority and proven ability to lead a matrixed cross functional team consisting of representatives from across the entire enterpriseStrong analytic skills, including quantitative modeling and complex problem-solving abilityProven ability framing and solving complex problem and the analytical ability to interpret and communicate them effectivelyStrong organizational and communication skills including experience presenting to an executive audienceTrack record of working of work independently and with minimal supervisionDoes this sound like you?
