Position Summary

The Director of Enterpise Applications reports to the J.M.

Huber Corporate CIO and provides leadership, vision and direction to the applications organization.

The Director is responsible for the life cycle planning of business applications through the phases of strategize, architect, select, deploy, operate, evolve, and retire.

This role manages the application group that has specific responsibility for building, configuring, maintaining, enhancing, and eventually decommissioning applications through their life cycle.

Additionally, the role develops the application architecture and roadmap for the enterprise and business units in conjunction with the Huber IT management council.

  • Collaborate with the CIO and other IT leaders to develop overall IT strategy in the context of the business strategy
  • Ensure that all applications processes are conducted in line with corporate social responsibility, environmental and technical policies and applicable standards and legislation
  • Manage application team, developing their skills and capabilities to meet the needs of the organization, as well as building on existing recruiting capabilities
  • Implement and manage application life cycle management status reporting, metrics and benchmarks
  • Manage relationships with major vendors and service providers to ensure they cost-effectively meet the needs of the organization
  • Conduct regular surveys of stakeholder satisfaction with applications, publish the results and implement action plans to improve satisfaction
  • Manage the delivery lifecycle from technical design through integration testing, collaborating with stakeholders on functional design and user testing
  • Drive the development and management of the Huber Enterprise System Referential Architecture
  • Assess the technical and business fitness of the application portfolio and their associated costs and risks
  • Facilitate the application governance process to prioritize a set of measurable business outcomes that applications must support.

    Work with the application governance council to define a prioritized set of business outcomes and application work to accomplish those outcomes within the limitations of the application budget

  • Drive the application work in a way that improves the business and technical fitness of the application portfolio and minimizes its ongoing support costs
  • Oversee the application organization’s successful delivery of these business outcomes, as well as support activities in conjunction with infrastructure and operations to ensure the applications perform well in production
  • Partner with the Director of Information Security to ensure applications are effectively secured and that risks are mitigated

Education, Specialized Knowledge & Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field required
  • 15+ years of demonstrated experience managing a high-performing, cohesive team, and leading systems implementation and development
  • Leadership experience in deploying & configuring large scale ERP and Financial Systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) in a portfolio-based manufacturing company
  • Experience in software design/development, mobile applications, application architecture, project management, software as a service (SaaS), software integration, automated software testing, data management/governance, business intelligence, security and/or business process analysis
  • Ability to lead a team of 15+ members in application development, implementation, or management
  • Experience managing an organization primarily using multiple development methodologies with a focus on agile development and deployment
  • Demonstrated leadership experience building cross-organizational consensus with exposure to technology providers and/or business clients
  • Ability to prioritze competing responsibilities in a matrix environment
  • Proven problem solving and negotiation skills in multi-party situations
  • Exceptional communication skills, executive presentation skills, relationship building skills and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
