Senior Director of Engineering – Remote

This is a Full-time position in Phoenix, AZ posted December 20, 2021.

Snapdocs’ engineering team is in a high growth phase and now we are looking for a Senior Director of Engineering to lead our Platform Engineering team.

This team is charted with core infrastructure and services that all product teams build upon.

The current team composition includes Developer Efficiency, QA, Release Management, Shared Services, and DevOps/Infrastructure.

This is a highly visible and impactful role reporting to the Head of Engineering.

In this role, you will manage multiple engineering teams across multiple disciplines, provide technical leadership, set vision and strategy for the Platform roadmap for Snapdocs.

This includes shared services, how we test, build and release code, AWS, and Google cloud-based product infrastructure.

You will partner with multiple Product Managers.

Your responsibilities span but are not limited to plan, coordinate, and direct the day-to-day work of a team of Engineering Managers and Software Engineers, new software development projects, and create architectural designs for new software systems.

You will support the team in designing and developing high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems while working with product and engineering teams to release new software at a high velocity.

Today, this role will have about 3 direct reports and up to 30 indirect reports.

Fully responsible for delivering world-class software, you’ll grow the capabilities of the team through hiring, coaching, nurturing, mentoring, and building a happy healthy culture.

You will also continue to make technology recommendations to the Head of Engineering. 

Ideally, during your IC engineering days (12+ years), you have gained experience building service-oriented architectures that powered internal and external customer solutions.

These days (the past 6+ years) you can be found leading, mentoring, shaping software engineers and their Managers organized into multiple teams, leading scrum meetings and standups, conducting software architecture reviews and code reviews, hiring software engineers, managing the release of new software features and products.

You embrace people-centric leadership, have a bias for growth, and nurturing.

You enjoy a collaborative approach to changes in processes and systems that impact all of engineering
– avoiding top-down mandates and unilateral changes.

You are passionate about operational excellence and being the platform that accelerates all of the product development.

The company is fully remote today so experience leading remote / distributed teams is a major plus along with knowledge of AWS and B2B experience.
