We are currently seeking qualified and highly motivated individuals for the position of Scientific Communications Specialist/Manager (Associate Director level), reporting to the Scientific Communications and Publications Lead within Medical Affairs
– Rare Disease Business Unit.
This position is an important member of the Medical Affairs team who will execute publication and communication strategy for the assigned products.
The qualified candidate will coordinate the development of a strategic communication and publication plan and lead the implementation the corresponding tactical activities.
This role is based in our office in Boston, MA with an option to telecommute 2 days per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Drive the development of the scientific communications strategy with key stakeholders, and provide direction for generating medical educational activities of scientific and clinical interest
· Lead the implementation of the scientific communications plan and the defined scientific communication platforms and gap analyses
· Lead the development of congress plans, define communication objectives for medical affairs activities at conferences globally
· Steer all medical communication initiatives and deliverables for medical affairs (e.g.
symposia, KOL identification and management, congress planning and content, congress booth materials, digital content development, independent medical education, core scientific slide decks, advisory board plans) that support the medical affairs strategy.
· Support the educational grants and IIR review and process
· As a full Medical Affairs team member, support and contribute to ad hoc Medical Affairs planning initiatives and activities
· Provide when and where needed medical oversight for scientific review and coordination of approval of communication materials in compliance with corporate standards and government/industry regulations
· Collaborate with key stakeholders for the successful completion of all communication deliverables.
· Provide Medical Affairs team with knowledge and intelligence from scientific congresses, and the literature.
Provide support in the review and approval the medical affairs literature summaries and publication alerts.
· Provide support to publications and medical information activities, by managing a publication plan or drafting medical information response letters.
· Participate in the development and growth of the scientific communications/publications function, contribute to long-range planning, manage project plans, develop, and manage processes,
· Manage external medical writing vendors and budget
· Represent Chiesi at meetings and conferences, and in other interactions with key opinion leaders in collaboration with other functions
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
· PharmD or PhD with 4-6 years of medical affairs experience including publications, medical writing, and scientific communications
· Effective written and spoken communication skills in combination with the ability to critically analyze and summarize data
· Project planning and organizational skills with experience managing multiple priorities in combination with great attention to detail as well as the ability to prioritize in a changing environment with a sense of urgency
· Knowledge of relevant publications related industry standards, regulations and guidelines (e.g.
GPP3, ICMJE), as well as project planning tools and IT systems
· Strong interpersonal skills in developing and maintaining successful stakeholder relationships (internal and external)
· Proven ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries
· Prior experience working on a launch product and in rare disease is preferred
