– School Continuous Improvement Work Plan Manager (190002D4) Job Description School Continuous Improvement Work Plan Manager ( Job Number: 190002D4 ) Description Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is the third largest school district in the United States, serving over 360,000 students in 600 schools and employing nearly 36,000 people, most of them teachers.

In addition to satisfying State of Illinois and Federal requirements for schools’ continuous improvement planning the Continuous Improvement Work Plans (CIWPs) are the expression of each school’s strategic priorities for the next two years.

Continuous improvement is executed in a cycle to plan, implement, assess and adjust strategies to achieve desired outcomes.

Schools evaluate themselves against best practices, determine their priorities and goals for each year of the two-year cycle, and develop action plans which address the root cause(s) for the gap in desired outcomes that may exist for each priority area.

The School Continuous Improvement Work Plan Manager is the champion and primary contact for CIWP.

The School CIWP manager will be responsible for the management of CIWP sites and coordinating processes that guide schools in meaningful data-driven reflection and analysis to positively impact the instructional core.

The Manager will assist schools in strategic plan development and monitoring of implementation by guiding both schools and networks.

The Manager reports to the Senior Manager of Continuous Improvement (SMCI) and implements the shared vision of the Office of Network Support (ONS) and CPS.

The Manager develops all CIWP materials, resources and presentations according to guidance from SMCI.

Completes other projects as assigned by SMCI.

Responsibilities Include: Collaboration
– The Chief Executive Office is a primary stakeholders.

Must collaborate with to ensure Continuous Improvement efforts are aligned with the vision and goals of CEO, key Central Office departments and is in the best interest of students.

Coaching – Provide coaching to Network Continuous Improvement Leads to ensure that they provide timely, appropriate and ongoing support to schools that elicits buy-in and ongoing engagement in the process of continuous improvement.

Strategy – Assist in the development of strategy to engage schools in plan development to implementation and management Training – Develop and implement of high-quality training to all stakeholders that elicits an investment in the tool as a lever for change and builds capacity for continuous improvement in schools.

Develop and manage continued training clinics and supports based on analysis of school/network engagement in components of continuous improvement process and cycle.

Communication – Communicate vision for continuous improvement, required deadlines, and ongoing monitoring strategies.

Develops plan for communication using multiple mediums including webinars, website updates and weekly memos Reporting – Monthly reports for district on schools’ capacity for developing and implementing CIWP.

Work with network leads and network data strategist to collect relevant data for reporting.

Proactively report CIWP developments to SMCI.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree required, experience in project management and/or training strongly preferred.

Master’s Degree strongly preferred.

At least three years of professional experience, preferably related to school leadership and/or strategy development Knowledge of continuous improvement models and problem solving models Applicant must demonstrate the following: Ability to use project management skills and tools to plan, execute and evaluate a project with internal and external stakeholders Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills Ability to work independently to manage multiple work streams while balancing competing priorities with attention to detail Strong communication skills, including communication documents for a wide range of audiences Interest in and ability to analyze, synthesize and interpret data sets, identify issues and opportunity, monitor effectiveness of implementation, and adjust Experience coaching to help impact personal and/or project development and outcome Flexibility and can function effectively in ambiguity The ability to receive, internalize, and respond to feedback from department leadership, manager, colleagues, and external partners Residency Requirement: As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of his or her CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
