*COVID vaccine is required*The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for providing, planning, coordinating or managing nursing care, nursing services and health education to nursing home residents in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations and as directed by the Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA), to assure that the nursing department is operating effectively and efficiently.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPlan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the nursing department.Monitor charting and documentation of care and of medications and treatments.Oversee and assist with personnel, medical care, financial matters, equipment and other matters involved in operation of the nursing department.Assists in the recruitment and selection of management personnel and other personnel within the nursing department.Assists the Quality Assurance Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified quality deficiencies.Oversee nursing department participation in surveys/inspections made by authorized government agencies.Assist in reviewing and developing a plan of correction for deficiencies noted during survey inspections and implements any actions needed for the nursing department to become compliant with deficient practices.Assist nursing management personnel in the planning and conducting of in-service training and orientation programs to ensure compliance with regulations and facility procedures.Assist nurses during busy times on the floor.Follow care plans and communicate with resident family members concerning end of life issue and wishes..Directs staff response to emergencies, such as severe weather fire or bomb scare.
Participates in fire drills.
Directs disaster evacuation plan as needed.Prepare an annual operating budget for approval and allocate the resources to carry out programs and activities of the nursing department.Comply with facility HIPAA Security Policies & Procedures by using only protected health information (PHI) needed to perform designated job responsibilities which include accessing any information contained in patient records when required for the purpose of supervising staff or complying with licensing and other regulatory requirements.Other duties as assigned.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESMaintains current knowledge of applicable managed care, Medicare and State Medicaid regulations, reimbursement systems and methodology.Selects and institutes appropriate nursing intervention which might be required to stabilize a Resident’s condition and/or prevent complications.Attend IPOC meeting on a daily basis.Perform evaluations of assigned staff members.Counsel and support all staff of Sayre Christian Village.Other duties as assigned.SKILLS & ABILITIESKnowledge and understanding of accident protocol.Must possess verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work independently and with others.Ability to build trust and rapport with residents and families.Ability to work collaboratively with residents and Nursing Home employees as needed.Must be able to work a varied schedule to include weekends, evenings and overnight.EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSMinimum of five (5) years of experience working in a long term care facility preferred.Three (3) years of Management experience preferred.Registered Nurse (RN) license required.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOBFrequently communicates with employees, residents, family members, etc.Occasionally lifts objects weighing up to 50 pounds.Frequently remains in a standing position.Frequently stoops, kneels, or bends when assisting residents and coworkers with resident needs.Must be able to use all body limbs up to 100 percent capacity.Frequently works in a well-lit, tempered room.
