Solicit group business that enables the hotel to meet and/or exceed revenue goals.
This position is designated for Local, State, and National markets.
The majority of the time spent in this position will be making sales calls on a face-to-face basis, following up on leads, maintaining and creating relationships, and taking an active role in the marketplace by attending networking events, chamber functions, and MPI.
Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections, and written communication.
Including face-to-face sales calls in the local area on a weekly basis.
Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports, and file maintenance.
Participate in weekly sales meetings, pre-convention meetings, training, and other meetings as required.
Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to customers.
Attend trade shows, community events, and industry meetings.
Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition, and customers.
Maintain high visibility in the surrounding community and in the hospitality community as appropriate.
Maintain all sales systems, such as sales records and reports, conference calendar, traces of history and potentials, logs of groups not previously accommodated, and mailing lists.
Design marketing programs and campaigns, to develop the local market.
Ensure the prompt and systematic servicing of business accounts (i.e., tracing, booking, contracting, communicating with hotel departments, and following up with the group for feedback and future bookings).
Identify and analyze competition, both locally and regionally.
Work closely with the Director of Revenue Strategy to set competitive rates.
Achieve and/or exceed revenue goals.
Assist with Sales data tracking: Including leads, contracted groups, and lost business.
Facilitate site tours.
Develop and facilitate the execution of proposals and contracts as required.
Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposals, writing contracts, facilitating customer correspondence).
Assist Conference Services team when necessary, to ensure events run smoothly.
Assist Accounting Department with billing questions and needs, Accounts Receivable, Budgeting, and Forecasting.
Other duties may be necessary and may be assigned.
Must possess sufficient relevant experience to perform the tasks assigned.
Prefer a minimum of two years of hotel or related sales experience with a minimum of three years sales experience.
The position is salary and commission-based depending on experience.
