Allocation of Time:
2-3 weeks in the field every month
50% working existing proposals and closing projects
30% prospecting and business development
20% Rep improvement, training and development
Priorities and Focus:
Meeting sales and gross margin dollar goals
Developing long-term relationships with customers
Generating new business from leads, networking with current relationships, and finding new opportunities with new and existing customers
Must be really good at:
Negotiating and closing jobs
Finding new customers
Finding new applications
Recruiting “A” sales representatives
Educating and energizing sales representatives
Time management

Key Performance Measurements:
Gross margin dollars of bookings
Sales dollars of bookings
Gross margin dollars of quotes
Sales dollars of quotes
Number of new customers
Monitoring:
Routine checking of actual results versus goals
Regular contact with sales representatives about performance
Follow up to ensure RFQ’s are done on-time and presented effectively
Follow up and track quoted projects
Track plans to close jobs.
Systematic follow up of leads
Seek out information about competitors
Planning:
Monthly schedule to guide use of time.
Routine use of plans to achieve major objectives, specially closing jobs
Key action items derived from plans
Communications:
Response to routine internal emails within 24 hours
Same-day response to customers and potential customers
Voice or face-to-face contact on sensitive or truly important issues
Frequent use of Webex when appropriate
Routine pre-arranged contact with sales representatives
Field visit with “A” and “B” representatives once a quarter; “C” once every 6 months
Factory visits every 3 months
Routinely share information with appropriate teammates
Knowledge Base:
In depth knowledge of precise temperature and humidity control in low dew point applications.
Personal relationship with key accounts and sales representatives
Aware of competitive activity
