This is a Full-time position in Sparks, NV posted December 10, 2021.

We are currently accepting applications for a Quality Supervisor at our state-of-the-art production facility in Sparks, NV (Spanish Springs).

The position will work 2nd shift Monday – Friday from 11am – 7:30pm and report to the Quality Superintendent.

The position requires up to 10% travel.

JOB SUMMARY: Assist the Quality Superintendent in the develop, implement, and execute quality systems and programs to prevent or eliminate food safety risks and product quality defects in new and existing products.

The Quality Supervisor maintains the authority and responsibility to cease operations in the event that compliance to food safety and/or quality standards are not being met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain regulatory compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements.
Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws for all direct reports.

Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work, coaching appraising performance, training, and addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
Identify, develop, implement, and execute continuous improvement upgrades to the quality systems and programs.
Actively monitor the production floor for compliance to quality systems and programs with an emphasis on identifying gaps between the production floor practices and the quality systems and programs.
Participate in Facility Food Safety Team Meetings.

May lead meetings and maintain meeting notes.
Conduct internal Quality and Food Safety training.

Act as resource for facility/employee questions and concerns as related to food safety and product quality.
Support customer, regulatory, supplier, and third-party audits.
Conduct internal audits (Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), Sanitation, etc.)
Lead incident investigation for upset conditions.
Control non-conforming materials according to company policy, including proper identification, retention, and disposition of materials.
Interact with ingredient suppliers and service providers as needed.
Coordinate collection of product samples and equipment/environmental swabs.
Review, sign, and maintain Food Safety CCP documents and other production/quality related documents.
Prepare Certificates of Analysis for customer shipments.
Perform all tasks assigned by the supervisor, while following all company, safety, and quality policies and procedures.
Act as back-up to Quality Superintendent and Quality Technicians during absences.

Includes covering all aspects of these Quality positions.
Travel to other CQC facilities, training, vendors, and/or customers.
Work with allergens, such as dairy and soy.
Maintain regular attendance at work.

Collaborate with or act as site SQF Practitioner:
To oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the SQF system, including the food safety fundamentals and the food safety plan.
Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF system.
Communication to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF system.

Guidelines for SQF Practitioner:
Be employed by the site as a company employee on a full-time basis;
Hold a position of responsibility in relation to the management of the site’s SQF system;
Have completed HACCP training course;
Be competent to implement and maintain HACCP based food safety plans;
Have an understanding of the SQF Food Safety Code and the requirements to implements and maintain SQD system relevant to the site’s scope of certification.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Bachelor’s degree is preferred: Science Based (Food Science, Nutrition, Microbiology, or similar).
Minimum 5 years of quality-related experience within a food manufacturing environment, including advancing levels of leadership and responsibility.
SQF, HACCP, and recall experience in a food manufacturing environment.
Ability to complete HACCP, PCQI, Internal Auditing, SQF and other food safety related training within a year.
Knowledge of Food Safety (FSMA), Federal, State, Local, etc.

regulations and requirements preferred.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
