This is a “Direct Hire” opportunity, not a contract position Position Summary: The Quality Manager will establish and maintain the quality and food safety programs of the plant and provide leadership towards continual quality improvement of those programs to meet regulatory, quality system and customer requirements.
In this role, you will provide both tactical and strategic guidance to the Plant Operations team.
Job Responsibilities: Ensure the plant is in compliance with federal and state regulations as well as well as HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices and relevant quality systems.
Develop, implement and maintain training programs for employees on food safety and relevant quality systems.
Establish and maintain microbiological specification program and oversee sampling of products in accordance with that program for incoming raw material and finished product.
Develop, implement and maintain a documented quality system.
Evaluate and approve raw material suppliers.
Qualify raw materials for production use and finished product for release to customer Inspect and audit plant regularly to ascertain compliance with sanitation regulations and other quality systems.
Establish and maintain a lab for analysis for raw materials and finished products.
Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications and prepare reports to validate or indicate deviations from standards.
Develop and lead company’s continuous quality improvement and food safety programs.
Investigate customer quality complaints and implement corrective actions.
Manage plant audit processes of regulatory bodies, quality systems and customers.
Develop, maintain and update specifications of all incoming raw materials from approved suppliers.
Manage pest control programs.
Supervisory Requirements: The position manages all employees, 6 to 8, of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within the Quality department.
Requirements: 5 or more years of food production quality assurance management.
2 or more years of leadership experience Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Food Science, related field or relevant experience Working knowledge of food safety and quality assurance programs Strong Continuous Improvement experience Experience with organic, kosher and halal food production BRC or SQF certification required; BRC highly preferred.
