Quality Assurance Supervisor

Job Description: QA Supervisor

Darigold is seeking a motivated Quality Assurance Supervisor to be a part of the Portland, Oregon team. As a member of the Portland team, the Quality Assurance Supervisor will be a partner in the Operations Division. The Quality Assurance Supervisor’s role is responsibility for the daily supervision of the plant quality and food safety programs.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
(other duties may be assigned):

  • Monitors and reports plant sanitation efforts. Makes appropriate recommendations to management.
  • Responsible for investigating and following-up on any reported food safety or quality concerns.
  • Daily review of Appendix N documentation and reporting.
  • Daily review of laboratory quality data to ensure products meet specification
  • Conduct daily product evaluations with plant management and operators to ensure consistent quality
  • Supervise and train laboratory staff
  • Monitor and purchase of laboratory supplies and equipment
  • Daily review of processing and quality data collected by operators
  • Track, trend and report key quality measures
  • Maintain plant Quality and Food Safety Scorecard
  • Maintain calibration and verification of analytical instruments
  • Complete and maintain vitamin fortification records
  • Maintain plant Kosher program
  • Monitor ingredient and packaging lot tracking data to ensure the information is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain environmental swabbing program, track and report results
  • Maintain Co-Pack sampling and reporting program
  • Process and report Co-Pack quality summaries
  • Review certificates of analysis for critical ingredients
  • Maintain sampling and testing program for critical ingredients
  • Customer complaint investigation, resolution and reporting
  • Plant employee quality training
  • Maintain third party product testing program
  • Conduct plant employee food safety and quality training
  • Conduct monthly GMP audit and report results to management
  • Management of the plant HACCP program
  • Management of the plant Allergen Control Program
  • Third party audit preparation, review and response
  • Trouble-shooting plant quality issues
  • Special projects as needed
  • Product development and equipment commissioning activities


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to deal effectively with all plant employees.
  • Good technical understanding of manufactured dairy products.
  • Ability to troubleshoot quality issues in a manufacturing environment.


Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • BS in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry
  • 2-5 years of experience in the food industry preferred
