The Quality Area Manager supervises Inspection associates and manages the day-to-day operations of the QA inspection area within a distribution center.
The Quality Area Manager is responsible for the inspection of products from international locations in a warehouse/shop environment, and ensures that products meet all quality, safety, functional, workmanship, packaging, and labeling requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervisory / Management Responsibilities
Select orient, train, coach, counsel and discipline associates.
Develop associates to increase their capabilities and job performance.
Plan, monitor and appraise performance results.
Communicate values, strategies, and objectives.
Create a climate of openness, trust and respect for all associate.
Enforce systems, policies, procedures and productivity standards.
Maintain and keep accurate staff attendance, vacation, personal time off, sickness, funeral, and other attendance standards.
Initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
Coordinate inspection activity with DC supervisors and managers.
Attend DC group meetings to provide inspection status and request help as needed.
Establish daily and weekly priorities, schedules and assign tasks.
Generate summary reports of tasks and inspection data.
Resolve and report quality issues
Ensure the work environment is maintained in a clean & safe status.
Ensure associates have the tools to perform their tasks, and are properly trained & certified to operate equipment.
Manage activities such as rework, inventory pulls, RTV coordination, hold notices, SCARs, etc.
Inspection Responsibilities
Develop inspection checklists from product specifications and engineering test reports
Perform random inspections of existing SKUs in DC inventory, as well as incoming products upon being unloaded from containers in a warehouse/shop environment.
Assure that the products meet requirements for quality, safety, function, packaging, labeling, weights, dimensions and workmanship.
This includes first article inspection processes following inspection checklists
Write inspection reports and maintain tracker status

Job Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree prefer
2-4 Years of QA management experience supervising inspection personnel (preferably in Distribution)
Experienced with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Multi-tasking skills
Knowledge of business concepts
Supervisory & leadership skills
