Program Manager, Advocacy

Consumer Reports

This is a Full-time position in Washington, DC posted February 13, 2022.

THE OPPORTUNITY This a great opportunity to use your project management skills and business acumen for a good cause!

As Program Manager, you will support our Sustainability Advocacy team, by developing and facilitating a shared understanding of objectives and results across a diverse set of stakeholders.

You will manage organizational projects with a key focus on aligning deliverables with overarching strategy, managing budgets, ensuring deadlines are met, and coordinating the activities of multiple workstreams.

CR has a track record of promoting energy and fuel efficiency through ratings and policy, and we are committed to bringing our full power to address climate change and environmental issues more broadly.

We have the opportunity to bend the curve of consumption toward a sustainable future and to build a bridge to the young and diverse members who will shape consumer issues in the next half-century.

This position is grant-contingent until June 17, 2023 with opportunity for extension as we secure additional philanthropic support, which is an organizational priority.

Responsibilities:
Help execute a roadmap that delivers on the program’s overall strategy.

Coordinate cross-functional work managed by CR’s research and testing, advocacy, content, and communications teams.

Develop new processes and protocols for interdepartmental communication and collaboration.

Ensure integration of projects, including adjusting project scope, milestones, timing, and budgets as needed so that projects are completed on deadline, within budget and meet determined requirements.

Communicate regularly with executive leadership, internal stakeholders, and external resources on program roadmap, strategy, direction and changes.

Facilitate contracts, project planning, project tracking, division plans, weekly meeting agendas, and the evolution of internal communication tools and knowledge bases for the project.

ABOUT YOU Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or advanced degree
Minimum of 5 years of project management experience
Experience working in or with an organization, program, or department focused on public policy and/or advocacy
Experience driving and organizing projects independently with limited feedback on a daily basis
Experience working in highly matrixed organizations and have a proven track record of aligning stakeholders across an organization and distributed workforce.

Proficient with programs such as: Google Apps suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Drive, Gmail, etc.) and Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), as well as project management software such as Smartsheet
Preferred Qualifications:
PMP or MSP certification
Non-profit experience
A passion for helping to bend the curve of consumption toward a more sustainable future!
