Job Description Summary : JOB SUMMARY
The Program Director coordinates activities of personnel at assigned base, reports to the Regional Director of Base Operations and collaborates with the Aviation, Maintenance and Membership Departments.
Duties include administrating the financial, marketing, growth and business aspects for the assigned bases.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
Administrative Duties
• Coordinates the daily base activities of the Flight Nurse and Flight Paramedics
• Collaborates with Base Pilot Supervisor for pilot activities
• Assures proper coverage for all medical shifts
• Assists the on-duty medical crew with securing replacement staff for sick calls
• Reviews electronic payroll of medical crew for accuracy and submits for approval before the stated deadline
• Receives medically related flight problems or issues from medical crews, aviation staff, communications center staff, customers and patients.
Resolves medically related problems or issues as they occur with feedback to appropriate persons or refers the issue to the appropriate person for resolution
• Recommends and implements changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness of medical staff performance
• Assures proper use, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment and supplies
• Participates in the evaluation of new equipment/supplies and oversees inventory and supplies
• Oversees the base spending and submits the required reports as defined by policy
• Responsible for the maintenance and organization of facilities
• Runs monthly staff meetings at assigned base to include preparing an agenda, typing minutes and assuring delivery of minutes to all crew members and safety department
• Ensures crew members follow policy for work related injuries and exposures
• Submits detailed reports to the RDBO
• Collaborates with the appropriate Educator and Medical Director to resolve any deficiencies
• Collaborates with the Communications Supervisor and the RDBO on Communications Center issues
• Reviews monthly CQI reports refers those with deficiencies to appropriate Educator, Medical Director or Director of Clinical Care Services
Supervises the Flight Nurses and Flight Paramedics
• Delegates assignments and holds employees accountable for work completion
• Develops individuals medical crew members talents by promoting professional growth, education, involvement, and decision making
• Accountable for medical crew licensure, certifications, and clinical requirements
• Ensures the required credentials are submitted by the base staff to the corporate office and a copy is kept at the base
• Collaborates with Regional Educator to ensure assigned staff has the required OSHA training and TB testing to meet corporate and government compliance
• Ensures daily narcotic counts are completed; all staff document narcotic use per policy; and reports any discrepancies immediately
• Assists with interviewing candidates for Flight Nurse and Flight Paramedic positions at the assigned base
• Assists new employees with completion of the orientation process
• Prepares annual employee evaluations for assigned medical staff
• Carries out disciplinary action with input from the RDBO an Human Resources
• Resource for the dissemination of new information and problem resolution for the medical staff
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws
Collaborates with the Aviation and Maintenance staff of the assigned base
• Participates in the interview process for the selection of pilots or mechanics to be assigned to the base
• Serves as the back-up to the Base Pilot Supervisor for approval and submission of base pilot payroll
• Collaborates with the Base Pilot Supervisor and Base Mechanic to ensure the highest level of aircraft reliability and sometimes seeks assistance from the RDBO as needed
• Collaborates with the Base Pilot Supervisor and Base Mechanic for issues involving aviation or maintenance personnel
• Collaborates with the Base Pilot Supervisor on the inventory and maintenance of flight helmets assigned to the base
Develops and implements an aggressive marketing program
• Identifies all customers within the assigned area
• Assigns customer relations/marketing activities for the base staff
• Ensures that relationship building activities occur with each customer
• Orders marketing supplies per company policy and ensures appropriate use of these supplies
• Provides approval for all PR activities involving use of the base aircraft
• Attends local and regional EMS/Hospital/advisory group meetings
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
• High school diploma or equivalent
Skills
• Must possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively deal with staff and present information to management, public groups, and hospital/EMS/911 agencies
• Possess efficient project/task completion and exceptional organizational skills
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Posses the ability to elicit staff involvement, and positive approach to problem solving
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret health and flight-related journals, operational reports, and job specific legal documents
• Must have a valid Drivers License
• Computer literacy required
• Permanent residence within 70 miles of the base location
Experience
• Two years of Supervisor/Leadership experience preferred | Job Description :
WORKING CONDITIONS AND MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Required to regularly reach with hands and arms; speak and hear
• Required to frequently sit for long periods of time
• Occasionally required to stand and walk and drive a motor vehicle
• Frequently lift and/or move 150 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Required to work frequently near moving mechanical parts
• Frequently exposed to blood-borne pathogens or airborne particles
• Required to frequently drive or ride in a motor vehicle
