Production Supervisor – Assembly

This is a Full-time position in Flat Rock, MI posted January 30, 2022.

New Opportunity! Major OEM is seeking a Supervisor to oversee the assembly process. Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills.

Position Description:

  • Lead issue identification during pre-production build events
  • Participate in the issue resolution process with multiple Engineering teams to identify and correct issues
  • Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish manufacturing processes and assembly feasibility
  • Deliver capable processes and tools for Trim and Chassis Assembly operations
  • Lead role in resolving assembly related concerns.
  • Participate in daily meetings to effectively describe and speak to concerns identified
  • Participate in job ergonomic evaluations with the ergonomist and help develop corrective actions as required
  • Develop interim and permanent actions on internal processes as required for manufacturing defects as they are identified
  • Support Manufacturing Process and Industrial Engineering activities for Final Assembly area for new model build events and through mass production
  • Supervise unionized hourly product specialist which includes, but not limited to these activities (developing daily assignments, proper pay practices, overtime equalization, vacation scheduling & approving, discipline if required, tooling and part trials as required, etc…)
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality and productivity
  • Lead and conduct process audits to ensure process discipline is consistent with Vehicle Operations process sheets as they are written
  • Assist in process and instruction sheets as required to support manufacturing processes
  • Ensure department compliance with government, industry, and corporate safety standards
  • Support ISO 14001 compliance and support internal ISO auditing and compliance as required
  • Support continuous improvement in safety, quality and productivity in Chassis and/or Trim areas
  • Identify throughput constraints and drive root cause improvements
Skills Required:
  • Ability to work any shift as well as rotating shifts and weekends
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict management skills
Experience Required:
  • Safety and Quality experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of constraint management principles
  • Microsoft Office knowledge (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Prior experience managing a unionized work force
  • CNC machining experience (PTO specific)
  • Helium leak stand experience (PTO specific)

Experience Preferred:
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in Trim & Final assembly
  • Experience in process development
  • Microsoft Office knowledge (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • 8D and 5Why corrective action and problem solving skills
  • Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping
  • FMEA, PPAP, and DOEs experience
  • Ergonomic analysis knowledge and experience
Education Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
