Product Manager, Insurance

Baron is seeking an energetic and motivated Product Manager who thrives on developing and communicating the science of weather and wants to work with a leading technology company. In this role, you will be working with Baron clients, sales and development teams for our critical weather data and tools. Our Product Managers play a crucial identifying industry needs, recommending products, developing use cases and demonstrating Baron weather solutions. Your primary goals are to drive increasing levels of prospect and customer engagement within the insurance vertical.

About You:
- 10 years of experience in an insurance-related or risk technology company.
- Experience with development, data and analytics
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
- Comfortable in front of large groups and great interpersonal skills
- Good with details and documentation
- Position may be virtual or based in Huntsville, AL with travel up to 50% of the time
- Disciplined approach to daily activity planning, setting goals and achieving success
- Enthusiastic, naturally curious and self-starting approach
- Great references that can attest to your skills
- Strong presence and interpersonal skills
- Experience with web, mobile applications and API data
- BS, BA degree or equivalent is required

The Specifics:
Business Development
- Work with sales to develop compelling weather solutions that spark customer enthusiasm within specific market segments.
- Identify use cases of weather data for applications and develop sales plays that meet specific sales targets.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for the organization to teams that need sales enablement in insurance & risk-related businesses.
Company Strategy
- Develop and present the vision and positioning strategy for the company in risk intelligence and weather data to maximize market share and sustainable revenue growth; position the organization as a forward-thinking leader in weather data for risk applications.
- Collaborate on the development of data APIs and growth into new markets that align with the company goals.
- Continuously research, analyze, and monitor financial, technological, and market factors to stay ahead of insurance industry trends using a variety of data sources to analyze relevant business trends.
Market and Marketing Strategy
- Act as the champion for public relations engagements, meetings with the technology press and interface with market research firms regarding the applications of weather data.
- Interface with the marketing team and provide subject matter expertise in insurance technology and the risk market.
- Proactively develop and adjust marketing messages to address evolving key business issues, drivers, and growth opportunities.
- Craft a regular cadence of content (e.g., webinars, case studies, collateral, social media programs, web, and event plans) that drives awareness, creates demand and builds community.
- Help to build and sustain an active partner user community.
- Know our target audience, how they buy and their buying criteria. Connect market and technology trends with the product and solutions to develop positioning, value propositions and messaging that resonates with the buying audience.
- Transfer this knowledge to marketing, sales and other departments, and ensure positioning is consistent through all channels of communication (sales materials, website, etc.).
Development and Product Creation
- Capable of writing development requirements resulting from the analysis of a business case, identification of the need(s), and breaking down the solution into high-level engineering requirements.
- Work with development staff to develop solutions and interface with customers/prospects to ensure the product meets needs.
- Testing and evaluation of product solutions and provide feedback to development.
- Able to assist with tech support as needed and have the ability to coach existing Enterprise support staff.
- Sufficient technical background capable usage of REST APIs, Data analytics and GIS platforms.
