commercial, industrial, schools, hospitals, retail) have come to realize the importance of investing in projects that have the unique ability to self-finance themselves through the utility, operations and maintenance savings they create.This shift in behavior has created a ton of opportunity for our business, and we are currently looking to add as many as 2 people to our Energy Services team.
Here’s a snapshot of some recent success:Plug Smart recently helped a large university identify over $20M worth of energy conservation measures providing a minimum of $3.5M worth of annual savings each year.Plug Smart recently helped a large school district reduce their energy costs $225,000 per year by retrofitting their schools with more energy efficient lighting, HVAC, building automation and control systems.Plug Smart recently helped a commercial building owner reduce their energy costs 38% and used these savings to develop a cash flow positive project financed using Property Assessed Clean Energy bonds.
So here’s how you can help.To help fuel our company’s growth, we need someone that can systematically canvass the C/MUSH (Commercial/Industrial, Municipality, Universities, Schools, & Hospitals) landscape for us, and help us identify new business opportunities in two important areas:Energy Projects – Help us identify clients who have a need to implement self-funding energy projects in the areas of HVAC, building automation controls, lighting, building envelope and other energy conservation systems.
Design-Build Projects – Help us identify clients who have a need to implement design-build facility improvement projects including infrastructure, building & grounds, and other construction oriented upgrades.Please note that this position is a Junior Project Development position with the ability to grow into a Senior Project Development position after training.
The primary role of the Junior Project Development Manager will be to identify new and prospective clients and setup meetings to discuss Plug Smart services with the assistance of the regional VP of Project Development.

Must be willing to make cold calls and use sales scripts while utilizing a “team selling” approach.
A background in sales or marketing is strongly desirable.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for setting up new meetings (6 per week) with prospective clients through cold calling and other methods.Responsible for helping drive revenue within the C/MUSH market including commercial & industrial businesses, schools, hospitals and other large energy users.Effectively work in a “selling team” with the regional VP of Project Development and assist in the account management of prospective clients.Effectively communicate the Plug Smart value proposition to all stakeholder groups found within Business Development Managers account base.Quickly recognize, qualify and screen leads based on technical, financial, operational and sales criteriaDevelop a database of qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, networking, email marketing, and social media.Log and track all leads, contacts, opportunities and other important data and documents using an in-house customer relationship management system.Provide timely and accurate weekly reports highlighting number of calls, appointments and other important sales metricsSKILLSStrong ability to communicate Plug Smart value proposition clearly and professionally via phone, email and through face to face meetings with key decision makers.Ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize new business development opportunities in order to maximize sales productivityDigitally savvy with strong proficiency in MS Office programs and using the Internet as a research and sales toolAbility to organize, multi-task and prioritize market opportunities in order to optimize daily sales productivityATTITUDESMature, aggressive, “get it done attitude” with the ability to work with a sense of urgency and with minimal supervision in a high paced environmentEmbraces challenges and looking for an opportunity to grow both professionally and make a huge difference in a small companyPassionate about routinely exceeding goals and will accept personal accountability for achieving desirable sales resultsHigh degree of credibility, expertise, and confidence when communicating with customersEDUCATION / EXPERIENCEMinimum of a two year associates degree (four year degree preferred) in an area that will help the candidate accelerate the learning curve for this position (e.g.
