Description:Job Summary:This position is accountable for Project Management, Customer Service/Business Development, Contract Administration, Scheduling, and Financial Success of all jobs assigned. Under the general supervision of a program manager, this position oversees multiple projects or one larger project. In addition to the responsibilities of a PM I, the project manager II is responsible for identifying appropriate resources needed and developing the schedule to ensure timely completion of the project. This position typically communicates with a senior manager regarding the status of specific projects.Essential Functions:Project ManagementManages day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple or larger scale projects from start to close out.Manages scope and mitigates exposure and risk across multiple projects.Manages to expect a quality, on schedule, within budget project in a safe working environment.Pursues excellence in all aspects of business.Confronts issues openly and quickly.Tactfully communicates sensitive information.Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors and peers.Conduct post job lessons learned.Customer Service/Business DevelopmentEmployee is committed to Petersen Inc. Vision and Quality Statements.Continually seeks and capitalizes upon opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen customer relations.Facilitates the development of new business opportunities relative to a particular customer, group of customers or type of project with close coordination with marketing.Grows long term relationships with customers and acts as a liaison between Company and the Customer.Works in conjunction with Business Development to follow up on business development leads.Conduct frequent correspondence and keep an updated and accurate job file.Possesses a knowledge base of each customer’s business, organization and objectives.Contract AdministrationResponsible for overseeing shop drawings, and submittals.Ensure the overall quality of the job.Ensure that safety procedures are followed.Prepare change orders on a timely basis.Coordinate job requirements directly with management/supervision.Hold pre-job, post-job and weekly project coordination meetings with a prepared agenda; distribute meetings notes to all meeting attendees.SchedulingCommunicate delays in production, and changes in delivery to the customer.Assist in preparing and maintaining the Job ScheduleHold periodic planning and review meetings with Department Managers, Estimating, Engineering etc., to brainstorm ideas, review costs, schedules, etc.Financial SuccessManages to and achieves revenue and profit goals set for the projects.Accurately forecasts revenue, profitability, and margins on all projects.Coordinate subcontract award and material purchases with the Purchasing department.Submit reports as requested concerning the Project Manager’s individual jobs to the Executive Staff. These reports include hours estimated vs. actual hours worked, estimated dollars vs. actual dollars, and change orders.Provide information for billing each month to Accounting and ensure that Accounts Receivable billings are properly submitted and collected according to contract terms.Ensure all corporate documentation is complete and up to date, and review job cost reports.Provide, review and monitor labor costs and projections with Department Managers.Responsible for effective and quick job closeout.Essential Mental Functions:Requires public contact and excellent interpersonal skills.Must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner.Must be able to favorably resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.Must have a long attention span in order to listen to people, perceive the real problems, and bring issues to a successful conclusion.Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes in this position.Essential Physical Functions:Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods of time.Some bending and stooping required. Requirements:Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Builds expert knowledge in our business and conveys knowledge to others.Must be able to communicate in a professional manner with all levels of the organization.Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, customers and other departments.Must be able to react favorably in all situations.Must have the ability to read P& L statements, track job cost, and monitor budgets.Knowledge of materials used in a fabrication and machine shop environment.Advanced knowledge of blue prints and geometric tolerancing.Ability to produce quality reports that are well organized, clearly stated, concise, and in a timely manner.Advanced skills in contract documentation and administration.Ability to take accurate minutes of formal and informal meetings with customers and team members.Ability to hold other team members accountable to their commitments including quality, time, and budget.Complies with and enforces standard policies and procedures.Strong written and oral communication skills.Possess interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills, finder fixer.Must be an advocate of the company vision and mission statements, team player.Good writing skills with experience in business writing.Computer skills i.E. Microsoft Office, Project, Power Point, internet technologies, etc.Minimum Requirements:University degree or College Diploma in the field of Project management, Business/Engineering related field.OrProject Management Professional (PMP) Certification.AndFive to eight years direct work experience in project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution, contract administration with working knowledge in the following areas: scheduling, budget management, forecasting and/or analysis of government and private contracts.
