Packing House Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

J&C Tropicals, a well-established and growing national tropical produce distributor is looking for a Packing House Manager who is responsible for planning the daily production, coordinates the flow of orders, priorities and the timely preparation of all customer orders in the packing Dept. The PHM ensures that all packing documents are accurate and complete, communicates constantly with the Packing House Assistant Manager, Shift Supervisor. Receiving Manager, Procurement, Receiving and Shipping. Ensures inventory accuracy and proper product and packing material rotation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned

• Plans daily production based on Sales and/or Procurement needs.
• Reviews pending sales orders and identifies priorities and or potential issues.

• Review open orders in the system and assign the appropriate lots to be used to fulfill the orders. Prioritize orders to be prepared based on inventory levels, product rotation and ETA.
• Keep constant communication with the Shift Supervisor for any changes in production.
• Manage Department Material Inventory.
• Buying of packing materials and CHEP pallets
• Manage the department budget.
• Constantly communication with Receiving, Procurement and the Shipping departments
• Process packing transaction in FAMOUS when necessary.
• Report monthly Department Material Inventory
• Report monthly Department KPI’s.
• Ensure compliance of Food Safety regulations.
• Request Dump Certificates of products.
• Ensures proper warehousing/housekeeping practices and space utilization as well as the accuracy and security of the on-hand inventory.
• Trains/ cross-trains motivate and evaluate employees’ performance and provides counseling when necessary

SUPERVISORY RESPONSABILITIES

This position has supervisory duties.

EDUCATION, LICENSES and/or EXPERIENCE

Education:

• High school diploma or GED preferred

Experience:

• 3 to 5 years experience in the produce field.

Any equivalent combination or experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

SKILLS and PERSONAL ATTRIBUTE

• Computer skills, i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. – proficient.
• Ability to utilize or learn software or technical applications and systems at an intermediate level.
• Highly organized and strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Ability to problem solve, organized and multi-task
• Ability to work independently within a fast-paced environment

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Fluent in both English and Spanish

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year
