Packaging Supervisor
Packaging Supervisor – Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in packaging products and materials for storage or shipment: Studies production order to ascertain type and quantity of product, containers to be used, and other packaging requirements. Inspects products prior to packaging and returns rejected products to production departments. Observes packaging operations and inspects containers to verify conformance to specifications. Starts, adjusts, and repairs packaging machinery, or notifies maintenance department. Trains workers in operation of equipment. Requisitions containers and other supplies for delivery to workstations.
Implements quality control check to ensure the packaging meets food safety regulations. Provides staff with directions on materials and equipment for each package.
A packaging supervisor oversees the activities in the packaging operations of a facility. They are chiefly responsible for ensuring compliance with safety procedures, good manufacturing practices (GMP), quality standards, as well as health and safety regulations.
Aside from that, the essential job functions of a packaging supervisor include training new employees, addressing employee concerns, implementing strategies to optimize packaging operations, reiterating company policies to employees, conducting quality inspections, and generating reports for the management. Their job requires them to keep an eye on packaging staff, and thus, they spend a majority of their time in the facility’s packaging areas.
