SUMMARY
This role is a key member of the Plant Leadership Team.
Success in this role will be defined by the ability to achieve balanced KPI’s goals across three main areas of our operation (Safety, Quality and Productivity).
The role provides an opportunity to improve performance from the status quo almost daily.
The person that will be successful in this role must like the challenge of an environment that looks for positive change and rewards for the influence and improved results, but also be humble enough learning from opportunities.
This role will require a person to be a coach to others at the peer level and for their own respective employee teams.
The facility operates across 24/7 operations and the person that fulfills this role will need to influence results on their own team and through the other operational departments both upstream and downstream in the supply chain.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Establish a vision and their guiding operating principles for the packaging department operations
Coaches and develops Packaging team members both salary and staff
Optimizes the labor resources available for training, creative crewing scerenios and ensures that our manpower to production ratio provides
Justifies additional labor if required through analysis
Understands how to influence OEE across multiple production lines with various set-ups
Understands the relationship that quality product comes first for our organization and anything less than our standard is considered waste
Leverages external and internal resources for development of their teams
Develops a true team based approach to root cause problem solving (5 Why, CEDAC tools utilized)
Embraces a Continuous Improvement culture and the hard work that comes with the journey of lean
Responsible for the safety and welfare of packaging employees and ensures department meets OSHA standards
Is capable to build and present analytical assessments’ for potential capital, calculating and evaluating ROI options all while looking forward the right way to deal with a growing and expanding business
Food Safety Compliance to our HCAPP and SQF certification level 3 programs.
Must maintain the packaging room environment as an audit ready area everyday
Clearly balances the impact of the packaging department with the needs of the other departments up or downstream in the supply chain (QA, Processing, Warehouse)
Motivation to achieve results is a must and has the ability to set SMART targets for KPI’s across People, Quality, Service and Cost

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages directly exempt level team leaders and indirectly responsible for non-exempt employees.
Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
