Purpose and Scope of Job:
Primarily responsible for supervising inventory management and production planning processes to achieve target inventory turns, production output and delivery performance.
Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):
- Supervise all aspects of SMA’s materials management policies, objectives, and initiatives.
- Supervise Material Planners to ensure adequate inventory of materials and products in accord with inventory cycles and organizational philosophy.
- Manage the monthly production volume and for various assembly/production lines.
- Establish inventory replenishment policies and direct all the planners to achieve target inventory turns.
- Ensure proper controls within the inventory control system and its interfacing programs.
- Manage cycle counting team to ensure consistent inventory accuracy.
- Manage the Sales and operations planning process to balance supply with demand.
- Manage the slow move/obsolete inventory reduction process.
- Apply industry best practices and forecasting/planning experience to all processes.
- Act as an effective and positive change agent, to recommend, and as appropriate, lead the implementation of such methodologies within the organization.
- Maintain a variety of schedules, records, and reports pertaining the tracking of materials through the production cycle and availability of production resources.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Decisions Sciences, or equivalent experience
- Five (5) years of experience in inventory management, supply chain planning, material planning, purchasing, or operations experience.
- Two (2) years of experience managing materials planning teams.
- Working knowledge of supply chain software.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access)
- Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication, negotiation, and technical skills.
- American Production Inventory Certification Society (APICS) certification is preferred.
- Six Sigma certification is preferred.
