Description: Our manufacturing client is currently seeking a Materials Manager. The Materials Manager is extremely important to the team. It is the highest level of supply chain in the facility and you’ll oversee and manage all planning activities related to materials management and inventory control. This includes tactical day-to-day operational commitments covering materials management, inventory control and materials functions such as purchasing and scheduling. As a member of the team you will translates customer delivery requirements into material strategies and processes, resulting in cost-effective processing and profitable manufacturing of products while optimizing customer satisfaction. You will maintain proper inventory levels of raw materials, intermediates and finished goods to support business objectives.
This job will have the following responsibilities:
- Develop and help the delivery, shipping, purchasing and planning teams meet daily, weekly, monthly and annual goals.
- Responsible for all incoming and outgoing warehousing and distribution operations
- Responsible for 8 shipping and receiving personnel as well as one buyer and one Customer Service Rep
- Limit the plants exposure to excess inventory cost.
- Adjust inventory levels associated with any backlog production.
- Analyze production requirements based on immediate sales orders and short/medium term forecast considering production resources (people, materials, equipment).
- Works with Division management to determine within single or multi-plant production facilities the most cost efficient utilization of production resources for on time delivery and minimization overall cost.
- Develops scheduling to establish sequence and lead times of manufacturing operations. Requires scheduling in weekly, monthly or longer production cycles.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must have 3 or more years of experience serving the automotive market
- Bachelors degree in supply chain preferred or 7-10 years of experience in materials management
- Must have experience with PFEP, Kanban and Visual Management Systems
- APICS Certification preferred or the ability to obtain certification
- Strong Microsoft excel skills working with spread sheets and creating macros as well as doing data conversion from ERP is needed
