Success in the role:
1st Month: You are getting to know your reports and starting to understand what motivates them, the state of their engagement, and where they would like to grow.
You are ramping up on our hiring needs and helping continuously improve the hiring process.
1st quarter: You have collected a round of feedback for each of your 8-12 reports and delivered it to them.
You are actively onboarding 1-3 new hires and supporting them as they get to know our business, our culture, and our team.
You are starting to participate in a strategic work stream related to our business needs.
You are vetting and onboarding partners, when relevant.
You are creating community among our team and driving/facilitating practice improvement.
You are identifying trends among our clients that create opportunities for us to develop solutions.
You are identifying risks within our organization as well as developing and implementing solutions collaboratively.
1st year: You are hiring, onboarding, and managing 8-12 direct reports.
You are supporting the individuals that report to you and your practice across the spectrum of technical, consulting and growth opportunities.
You are coaching and mentoring individuals in the organization to build better software.
You are actively supporting our customer outcomes by upskilling our team, working directly with customers when needed, and weighing our business needs with an individual’s needs.
You have provided 2-3 rounds of feedback to the reports on your team.
You have worked through a full Pay, Equity, and Promotion review cycle with your management team and have enough knowledge of your direct reports to feel confident making recommendations about their compensation, and justifying those recommendations to both leadership and your direct reports.

This person will be expected to work pacific, mountain, central time or eastern time zone.
This role will involve 5-15% travel to meet their team quarterly and to support client initiatives, if relevant.
Travel will be to either client sites or VMware Tanzu Labs offices in Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, New York, Boston, Atlanta, Toronto and potentially other sites.
