Work Schedule: 8am-5pm Monday-Friday schedule with occasional shift coverage required

Summary:
As the Manager of Patient Access, you will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the Patient Access teams to ensure all functions related to pre-registration, insurance verification, financial counseling, up-front cash collections, and denials are performed within the established quality standards.

A key component of this role is to implement process improvement initiatives to ensure patient/employee satisfaction and positive financial outcomes are met.

Responsibilities:
Manages the daily unit operations and performance of the Patient Access team.
Responsible for developing quality, productivity, and in-process measures for Patient Access department
Responsible for the supervision of pre-registration and insurance verification/financial counseling staff to ensure that all routine departmental operations are completed in a timely, accurate and compliant manner.

Manages personnel functions of the department when needed in accordance with the established hospital and departmental personnel policies.

Manages to 14 employees.

Conducts formal performance evaluation and counseling for supervisors on a regular basis to provide formal guidance and feedback.
Directs staff in the implementation of quality assurance procedures and provide feedback to teams to stimulate improvement
Monitors unit productivity to identify areas of inconsistency and to optimize utilization of resources
Works with Director in evaluating staffing requirements based on current volumes and productivity
Tracks key Patient Access performance measures/success factors to quantify department contributions and continually assess opportunity
Suggests action plans as needed for immediate correction of problems and plans follow-up meetings
Provides Director with regular updates of results, barriers to performance and top remaining opportunities for continued improvement.

Develops proposals for the Director of Patient Support Operations regarding changes in hospital or departmental policies to improve performance, increase customer satisfaction, and ensure compliance with government regulations
Emphasizes and promotes best practice concepts: ownership, accountability, a sense of mission, stratification, proactive follow-up, appropriate documentation, quality of work, training, teamwork, cooperation with other units, integration and standardization across units, customer service, and results
Coordinates and supervises the timely and successful recruitment, selection and training of new staff
Enhances and maintains own professional growth and development through participation in relevant educational programs, literature, in-service meetings and workshops
Qualifications:
Education: Associates Degree or three (3) years of additional experience can be subtituted in lieu of degree.

Experience: Three to five years medical healthcare patient access experience with a minimum of one year of managerial experience of at least 6 employees.

Excellent written and verbal business communication skills and problem solving skills.

Requires detailed knowledge of patient access processes and strong management skills.
