Education: Bachelor’s degree or 10 years of hands-on experience in building maintenance or construction. Strong knowledge of building trades, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, alarms, and general maintenance.
Job Description: Responsible for the safe and professional execution of preventative and reactive maintenance tasks and assigned projects at NASA Ames Research Center and Moffett Field, and effectively managing the maintenance workload. The supervisor will direct and supervise the daily activities of unionized tradesmen and specialty contractors in order to ensure that buildings, machinery, and equipment are in proper, safe and reliable operating condition.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Monitor, schedule, and coordinate the safety and quality of work performed by unionized tradesmen and specialty contractors assigned to scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks.
- Improve the reliability of equipment and machinery essential to critical missions using a Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) approach that includes Predictive Testing and Inspection (PT&I) data gathering and analysis.
- Create and assign work schedules and ensure that work is completed on time. Assist technicians with coordination, building access, and obtaining proper equipment and materials as needed.
- Attend frequent job walks and perform regular safety checks, quality checks, and other supervisory tasks as needed, and review work orders for accuracy and completion.
- Provide administrative and other support activities including policy administration, training and development, recordkeeping, reports, equipment history, etc.
- Manage resources (labor, equipment, vehicles, parts, materials, etc.) within the assigned budgets and schedules.
- Work Environment: 60% office work; 40% field work
- Minimal exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
- Work Schedule: Regular work hours (Monday – Friday) with infrequent weekend work.
- Regular and reliable attendance required.
- Occasional travel required.
- Hazardous conditions include hazards associated with maintenance and construction sites.
- Regular use of office equipment and radio.
- Regular use of vehicles to travel around the campus.
- Limited use of basic hand tools.
Qualifications:
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Must be able to obtain a NASA badge and maintain access to the workplace facility.
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and practices.
- Positive team player, with leadership skills to bring together diverse groups of people with varying levels of education, expertise, and backgrounds.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills to influence and drive results through others.
- Works well under pressure and with tight deadlines, and ability to effectively prioritize work and manage time.
- Self-motivated and results oriented, with strong attention to detail.
Status: Exempt.
Salary: $110K – $125K, based on experience
