ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Lead the Infrared (IR) Operations and Fabrication Team, which performs engineering, prototyping, process development, and production services in a fast paced environment to deliver IR products and device technologies. Develop and implement a strategy for establishing a new IR facility’s cleanroom fabrication capabilities to support current and future customer needs. The successful candidate will set priorities for investment and training while balancing needs for program execution exceeding internal and external customer expectations. Provide effective leadership and career development for a diverse group of technicians, engineers, and scientific personnel. EXPERIENCE DESIRED: Extensive experience in semiconductor fabrication with prior site level management and operations experience (e.g. 5+ years) in a relevant industrial fabrication facility. Experience in a high mix-low volume fab desirable. Demonstrated line and project management skills and experience (e.g., 5+ years managing people); proven record of inspiring direct reports; ability to set clear organizational vision and objectives with standards for accountability; and ability to coach and mentor staff. Demonstrated capability for interacting with and supporting other technical organizations. Strong track record of technology manufacturing, process, and operational contribution. Familiarity with operations, facilities and equipment support infrastructure is essential. Previous experience transitioning new processes into production facilities is desirable. KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: Broad knowledge of IR semiconductor device and wafer fabrication methodologies, including statistical process control, capacity / throughput analysis, yield modeling, and quality control. Knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001 certification and lean manufacturing is desired. Familiarity with foundry businesses and research communities is beneficial. Must be able to translate IR strategies for new technologies into implementation of needed engineering capabilities; knowledge of basic leadership skills; familiarity with intellectual property management; basic financial and business acumen including cost models; familiarity with operations management. EDUCATION DESIRED: Bachelors degree is required. Bachelor of Science in engineering, applied physics, mathematics, or
related field preferred. Advanced Degrees is a plus. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Strong interpersonal skills; team building and leadership capabilities; solid written/verbal communication and presentation skills; travel required. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: US citizenship required. Ability to obtain and maintain interim and/or final collateral secret clearance (post start) is a plus; active secret DoD or IC (or DOE equivalent) security clearance is a plus.
