The role:
You will be a transformational, hands-on leader responsible for bringing to life Fortive’s I&D strategy across the 16 operating companies (OpCo). 
Throughout this journey, you will partner with the VP of I&D on developing and implementing strategies, initiatives, communities of belonging, and partnerships to accelerate Fortive’s achievement of its I&D vision and aspirational goals.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead the development and implementation of company-wide diversity initiatives, tools, and processes focused on developing a diverse workforce aligned with business strategy.
  • Partner with business and HR leaders to designing and implementing strategies to attract, retain, and promote a diverse workforce.
  • Maintain a strong awareness of global diversity issues and trends.

    Educate, coach, and mentor the team on diversity issues and trends.

  • Develop and implement methods to assess diversity and inclusion strategy effectiveness.
  • Conduct ongoing research on best practices and recommend strategies for continuous improvement. 
  • Leverage data and analytics to identify actionable insights.

    Use these insights to improve problem-solving and accelerate strategy implementation. 

  • Coach and mentor diversity managers and team members; assigns work according to availability, skills, and developmental needs; assesses performance.
  • Lead the global framework development for affinity groups and local diversity councils, including ongoing communications; oversees the alignment of work plans; supports the start-up of new groups.
  • Oversee the formation and growth of Employee Resource Groups.
  • Liaise with ERGs to design and develop research, reports, and/or models required to evaluate the results and effectiveness of ERG plans.

    Identify and implement process improvements.

  • Plan events, including preparing budgets, retaining vendors, preparing communications and marketing materials.
  • Assist with implementing educational programs and services on diversity, including creating and delivering customized training programs
  • Assist with implementing social media strategy for the organization and ERGs.
  • Partner with corporate communications and HR during moments of crisis to support the well-being of employees and reinforce our values and beliefs.

The person:
You are an accomplished, inspirational leader and proven strategic partner from a highly regarded company known for excellence in I&D, HR business partnering, and change management.

You have a steep career trajectory, significant breadth of experience, and the ability to succeed in a decentralized, lean environment.

You are a strong communicator with the ability to influence and inspire executive stakeholders and peers.

You are strategic while also detail-oriented and comfortable being hands-on.

In addition, you are highly curious with a desire to learn and continuously improve while delivering value to the business.

 

Professional Background & Attributes:
The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

  • Have at least five years of experience in human resources with five years’ experience driving strategy and Inclusion and Diversity initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully balance the achievement of short-term objectives with longer-term strategic organizational goals
  • Bias for action with strong results orientation
  • Ability to play a “long term game” as it relates to influencing executive leaders and shifting corporate culture
  • Strong executive communication (written and verbal) and presence
  • Demonstrated high-intensity, high-initiative approach towards owning and driving people, culture, and innovation
  • Proven ability to generate consensus across diverse parties, influence high-impact decisions, provide critical feedback, and lead difficult conversations
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated ability to establish credibility, trust, and partnership at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze various data and make linkages across complex organizational or business concepts, strategy, structure, and processes
  • Ability to switch between strategic thinking and hands-on execution, as needed
  • Experience utilizing qualitative and quantitative data to make decisions and measure impact.
  • Capacity to think flexibly and move quickly in a fast-growing and ever-changing environment.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to thoroughly research options in terms of risk and consequence before making recommendations
  • A passion for people and a steady focus on the needs of a diverse talent base across the employee lifecycle
  • Experience working with diversity, equity, and inclusion in the tech industry a plus!
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Experience with employment law including but not limited to: ADA, FMLA/OFLA, and FLSA
  • Travel: May vary between 10-50
