HNTB is currently seeking a Project Director in our growing Design Build Organization to lead multidiscipline teams in the design of complex transportation infrastructure design projects, nationwide.
Responsible for the profitable operation of large, mega projects.
Responsible for gross revenue of $30M+.Primary Focus Will Include:Leads a multi-disciplinary team of designers to successfully deliver project plans, specifications, reports, and other design related materials.Interacts with our contractor clients and owners to ensure design deliverables are aligned with construction schedules and expectations.Interacts with 3rd party stakeholders to gain approval/buy in on project approach, processes, and the design.Oversees project performance to ensure profitability, reporting and cash flow.Provides operational management of design build projects with a design fee of $25-75M including budgeting, contracting, document control, contract, and change management.Mentors and develops leadership and engineering skills of project task leads.Travel 50% Preferred Qualifications and Skills:Master’s degree in Engineering and 20+ years of experienceProfessional Engineer license20+ years of experience leading in leading the civil design for major highway/interstate projects, airport, or transit projectsPrevious working relationships with construction contractorsRequires excellent oral and written communication and negotiation skillsRequires ability to interface with clients as firm representativeINDWhat You’ll NeedEssential Responsibilities:Develops and nurtures key client relationships and is the primary company contact on assigned projects.
Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.Responsible for financial performance on projects.
Proactive management of cash, budget, schedule and project scope to ensure adherence to project goals and completion to the client’s satisfaction.Sets priorities, obtains commitments, and engages required resources through collaboration with Group Directors, Department Managers and/or Section Managers to staff projects according to the project Work Plan.Collaborates with office and division leadership in solving challenges and ensuring business objectives are met.Supervises and mentors’ team to achieve overall project objectives.
Where appropriate, oversees the project’s Project Manager(s).
Responsible for/oversees project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, hiring, development, retention and succession of project staff; development of plan forproject staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews.Leads pursuits of mega projects and/or actively involved as part of the pursuit team for super mega projects.
Partners with Client Service Leaders to develop long term strategies to identify and pursue additional business opportunities with key clients and with pursuit champions on efforts for mega and super mega projects in accordance with HNTB’s Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA).
Works with the pursuit team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials.
