Benefits
$85,000
– $95,000 annual salary based on experience, plus benefits, including physical and mental health initiatives, medical/dental/vision, 401(k), and paid holiday/vacation.
About the Position
As General Manager of Fleet Maintenance, you will oversee the maintenance and repair of over 800 vehicles and equipment including fire, police, public services, & sanitation for the Town of Mount Pleasant, SC. The General Manager supervises staff of 11 employees on one shift and is responsible for administering full maintenance and repair on all customer-owned vehicles and equipment, while managing the shop floor and completing administrative duties.
The GM must maintain a strong working relationship with the customer (the Town of Mount Pleasant) and keep shop operations within budget requirements.
Other job duties include:
Supervising technicians and shop staff and overseeing daily shop workflow
Performing maintenance shop administrative and operational functions, information system management, parts purchasing, inventory control, and financial & operational reporting.
Analyzing monthly financials and maintaining budget and forecasts.
Ensuring services are provided within budget and action plans are developed and implemented to improve operational efficiencies.
Reconciling the competing priorities of stakeholder demands with limited technician resources
Providing and promoting effective communication with customers, including taking steps to ensure customer retention.
Negotiating operating budgets and contractual terms with customers.
Providing leadership, guidance, and training goals for all location employees.
Promoting a safe work environment.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; Technical school or bachelor’s degree preferred
Valid drivers license
5+ years of experience of maintenance management for a fleet of at least 600 units (auto, truck, or equipment); Municipal maintenance experience in maintaining vehicles/equipment for fire, police, public services, or sanitation is preferred
Willingness to manage a shop floor and perform shop administrative duties
Experience with hiring technicians, providing training programs and maintaining technician certifications
Experience working with a financial budget
Capable of negotiating pricing with vendors and customers
Computer skills with advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel with the ability to develop reports, create charts, and analyze data for the customer.
