Exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader to join our opening team!

Opening in June 2022, in the heart of Wolf Point on the Chicago River, the new voco Hotel Chicago consists of 293 guest rooms and the Holiday Inn Chicago Downtown consists of 228 guest rooms.

The hotels are a dual brand concept in one building and while the Holiday Inn Chicago Downtown is reimagined, we are excited to launch the very first lifestyle hotel, the voco hotel in Chicago.

The word voco is Latin and it means to “invite” and “call together” representing our thoughtful and unstuffy and charming nature of the brand.

Spacious & well-appointed, accommodations range from standard rooms to elaborate & extensive suites that pay homage to this great neighborhood of Chicago with unmatched views of the Chicago River, the historic art deco Merchandise Mart and downtown Chicago.

Complete with special touches throughout, hotels will feature an amazing new lobby bar that captures those same views, a restaurant that celebrates the tastes of Chicago and a marketplace that is open 24 hours.

Hostmark has an exciting new opportunity for a talented General Manager to join our opening team.

We are looking for a dynamic leader who can successfully launch this new upscale full-service property in Chicago.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a General Manager in an upper upscale lifestyle hotel, with proven and creative experience opening new hotels.

We are looking for a strategic thinker with a motivating leadership style and people development skills, food & beverage experience, and has a passion to create sharable memorable guest experiences and who can inspire their team to deliver exceptional service and drive financial success.

The hotels will have four distinctive brand pillars that must come alive in the operation of the hotel.

Those are (1) Signature Quality Standards, (2) Creative memorable hallmark moments, (3) a hosted and curated service style and (4) creating a distinctive brand identity.

Responsibilities include:
Oversee all aspects of operations by exercising demonstrated knowledge and experience.
Develop, implement and monitor the financial and operational plans for the hotel.

In collaboration with key department leaders, focus on achieving key performance indicators to ensure optimum guest satisfaction, sales potential and profitability.
Maintains the highest of standards in guest satisfaction by providing exceptional guest experiences.
Involvement in sales & revenue management to help with strategy; identify need periods and/or market shifts; and supporting the team to achieve top line goals.
Make recommendations for capital improvements to enhance the assets of the hotel.
Monitors operating expenses for all departments and audits/summarizes the month end financial statements.
Monitors and ensures compliance with management company standards.
Internally, maintains a positive and productive environment for the artists through daily communication and coordination with key department leaders
Ensures artists have knowledge, skills, tools and resources to successfully carry out role responsibilities.
Continuously evaluate the performance and encourage improvement of staff.

Plan and administer a training and development program which will provide well trained artists at all levels and permit advancement for those persons qualified and interested in career development.
Represent the hotel in appropriate hotel, tourism and business associations.
Ensures a safe environment for guests and artists.

Ensures full compliance with all regulatory and statutory regulations and requirements, including but not limited to health, liquor, environmental and fire code regulations.

Maintain up to date on all changes to regulatory requirements affecting hotel operations.
