Food Safety and Quality Supervisor

Description: FOOD SAFTEY AND QUALITY SUPERVISOR SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Food Safety and Quality Supervisor is responsible for the food safety and quality programs for Cole’s Quality Foods, Inc. North Liberty IA facility. They work in conjunction with the Operations Team to ensure all food products manufactured in the North Liberty facility are safe and of the highest quality, meeting all local, state and federal food safety requirements and laws. SPECIFIC DUTIES: The FSQS will maintain food safety and quality programs to ensure all food products produced meet Cole’s Quality Foods, Inc. expectations in food safety and quality. This position will be responsible for all quality standards of manufactured products and related programs. The programs will consist of on line documentation and verification of all product specifications to include dimensions, color, weight, texture, and other measurable attributes. Responsible for programs related to food safety including but not limited to: HAACP, lot traceability for accurate recall, internal and external manufacturing procedures, employee and management training. Responsible for being an active and participating member of Inspection Response Team, Food Defense Team and coordinator of HACCP and HARPC Team. This position is responsible for departmental budget compliance, recommends equipment needs to sustain/improve food safety and product quality; helps establish and implement policies, goals, objectives, and procedures for the promotion of food safety. Also, conducts audits of co packer and suppliers to ensure all material components meet or exceed criteria identified as product/material specifications. The position will have a strong emphasis on quality assurance and related inspections for full integration into the production process. Maintains and develops programs to ensure products are monitored by management and hourly so that products are produced within quality standards, not inspected after substandard product is produced. The FSQMS will oversee production quality standards to ensure when quality drops below established standards, determinations must be made and evaluated to find out why standards are not being met and how to implement preventive measures. The FSQS is responsible for preparation and execution of the plant’s annual GFSI re-certification audit. They will work with the Operations team in the preparation of this audit. This includes working with the Purchasing Manager for GFSI compliance for supplier approval and monitoring programs. The FSQS will also be internal audit certified to facilitate annual internal audits at the Cole’s Quality Foods, Inc. North Liberty facility and host the North Liberty FSQS for the North Liberty annual internal audit. Product specifications and formulation will be monitored and accuracy maintained within the PIS in coordination with the Operations Superintendent and Plant Manager. Execute annual food safety training for all employees, both staff and hourly. The FSQS is responsible for implementation of the RSPO requirements. In coordination with the plant manager and the rest of the management team, ensure facility and team is in full compliance with relevant local, state and federal food safety requirements and laws. Coordinate and manage all monthly inspections and audits as required by the food safety and quality management program. Routinely review production paperwork for compliance with requirements of the food safety and quality program. Be a fully functioning member of the Operations team and work with other department managers to meet all plant and company goals. . Requirements: Requirements One to two years (1-2) supervisory position, preferably in baking industry. Able to communicate clearly, and interpersonal relations skills for effective development and counseling of employees, training, orientating and motivating employees in procedures and policies. Ability to work in fast paced environment. Have above average knowledge of computers. (windows, Word and Excel).Strong organization and problem solving skills. Flexible and able to handle multiple areas of job duties, as needed on a daily basis.
